Romney signed into law a bill that required everyone in his state of governorship, Mass., to sign up for health insurance. A Republican.

what the hell is he doing?

Republicans should be for removing all regulations, eliminating medicare and medicaid, and replacing them by giving americans access to tax deductable medical savings accounts.

Yes.

And considering that Romney accused Hillary's plan of being essentially anti-free market, you have to wonder what the man is thinking.

He signed it for the state of Massachusetts over a year ago. He claims it has more free market forces in it. I don't really know. Seems like big freaking government to me. I don't disagree with his assesment of Hillary's being big government.

He is going to pull out the federalism rhetoric. Of course, HE is full of shit. It's kind of like Hillary and others pretending to be against the war.

I'm all for big government when it's run properly.

It's a bit like Bill Mahr says: Republicans say Government doesn't work, so they get elected and prove it.

Government's not the problem, it's the way its run. And there are many very efficient and very successful government programs, despite what String and Texan Ron Paul will tell you. You can't run government effectively if you hate government.

Thats fucked up. Requiring people to have healthcare isn't the place of the government. That's what that snatch Hillary wants to do on a Federal level. Fuck that. You radical leftists cant see a slippery slope when it slaps a wet noodle across your faces.

A slippery slope toward national health care? Where's my sled?

National healthcare? This isn't anything like it. Its forcing people to buy a certain product from the insurance companies. Its yet another marriage between your beloved, honest, benevolent and pure intentioned government, and the nasty, evil disgusting private sector. I'm surprised you jizz yourself over this.

I'm not a big fan of the idea that people should be forced to buy insurance. If it is to be truly universal, it should be provided by the tax-funded federal government.

However, this is a step in the right direction. If she proposed the same 1300-page proposal she made in 1993-1994, she'd be laughed out of the primary.

But you're willing to hop on that sled, because you believe your government is well intentioned and benevolent. The same government that has gotten us into countless wars, has given no-bid contracts to Haliburton and is subsidiaries, the same government that does all the shit you detest about this country, but put them in charge of healthcare, and they'll do right. You're a more trusting sum bitch than me fool.

First of all, it's a draft of her proposal which she says will need to go through the legislative process and there's plenty of room for revision in order to build consensus on it in congress. This means, more than likely, that provision is going to be dropped.

Secondly, I'm not voting for Hillary in the primary. But I assure you, if it comes down to Hillary vs any of these morons running on the R side (Paul particularly), she'll have my vote.

Thirdly, government can work. They do a great job with Medicare and they do it with very little overhead. It just needs to be done right. Government isn't itself the problem, it's the way its done. And Republicans have done a pretty good job of fucking it up and convincing people that it's the government's fault simply by virtue of it being government.

The government doesn't and never will run healthcare. Its run by doctors, hospitals, and nurses. Government already does PAY for healthcare for, what, 80 million people or more? And they do a relatively good job at paying for it. Perfect? No. But, pretty good.

You really think they do a "pretty good job"? Are you out of your skin? Our government does a good job with our healthcare system. Now I've heard hem all. And your liberal trusting ass thinks the problem is that there's not enough government involved.

I swear, you guys claim all this and that, and then you put all of your faith in the government that has failed you time and again. Enjoy your own bullshit.

This is sort of like saying Exxon doesn't run it's gas sales, why it's actually service attendants, gas stations and delivery men!

Government does a terrible job of paying for Medicaid and Medicare, costs have soared in recent years and we are up to about $350 billion a year for each one and rising fast. How on earth the delusionary Dems like Hillary, Edwards and Obama can believe they can do universal healthcare for $100 billion or less is beyond the usual dishonest numbers politicians give for how much their plans cost and expect to go over.
