Republicans just do not tip well

All the wait staff I know who have worked political events tell me the same thing, Republicans barely tip. It is even worse if you are not white. A Black bartender is not going to get much in tips working a Republican event.

And we have all heard how skimpy trump tips. If 4 waiters are working 4 hours on a table, they are working in a state with federal tipping minimum wages, and trump tips $20, that wait staff just got $3.38 an hour.

Well here are a few others:
"Is Marco Rubio a celebrity? He never looks up from his phone and tips 0-5%. Pre-pandemic he was a regular, but most of the servers refused to serve him."
"Dick Cheney tips like shit."
"Tucker Carlson tips 8%"
Making up shit won't work, Wally.

Wow, does that mean more of us can be left begging for tips? And you think that is a good thing?

You still do not get what the trick is. They will keep promising you a "huge tip" in the future, and you will keep working like a maniac, until one day they will find someone new to promise a "huge tip" in the future to. We want to be moving more people off $2.13 an hour plus tips, not more people onto it.

Blacks.
Awwwww. Wally didn't get the tips he wants...

Maybe it's because you don't even know what 'tip' means??

We are told that federal tipped minimum wage is not $2.13. I know people who experience tipped minimum wage, and have links to the official rules. Or I could believe a woman who has a dozen different stories about whether she is a teacher or not.
Ah...so you work for FEDERAL minimum wage? Wow...that must suck! You can't even justify making more than that!

Tipping isn't capitalism.
It certainly is!
Tipping is a method by which employers get other people to pay their employees because they don't bring in enough revenue to afford the employees.
Not the definition of a tip. Try again.
These are not "businesses" per se, but rather "hobbies" run by people who want OTHER PEOPLE to pay their operating expenses.
A restaurant or catering service is a business, Dimlight. ALL businesses get other people to pay for their operating expenses plus a profit margin. That's called 'capitalism', Dimlight.

You are laboring under a common misconception. The wait staff just about everywhere gets tipped minimum wage, which is federally $2.13 an hour. There are a few very low end places that will bump up that salary, but the high end places will not. The reason they work at a high end place is the tips are great.

I obviously meant the full minimum wage, not the tip enhanced one. As for abolishing tips, companies already have a pretty good handle on what their staff gets as tips. So, whether low- or high-end, the wage could be set equal to that amount and pricing changed to reflect it. That eliminates tips while the staff gets paid the same.

The main reason tipped employees want it that way is they prefer cash tips that they don't have to report to the IRS. Many gig workers operate on the same basis. Avoiding taxes greatly increases take-home pay, by the tune of 20 to 30% when you include federal, state, local, and FICA withholding.
When you skimp on the tips, you steal their ability to make a living. If you do not like having to pay tips, argue for a higher tipped minimum wage. Do not expect perfect service for $2.13 an hour.

That argues for abolition, rather than retaining them.
And always remember that they are spitting in your food. You steal from them, and they spit in your food. That is the way of the world.
They spit in my food, and I can reasonably prove it, they're likely going to jail.

No one is stealing from people... No one is required to Work for someone who who schedules events that cause the employee angst... If you don't want to work the republican convention then you should quit... And get rehired... Sounds like a really wonderful employer.🤣 What company is it?I want to learn more about them....(No one has to be a republican slave for dollars and thirteen cents an hour....and no one is... ) Who's importing slaves from abroad To work republican events? Are you okay? You don't sound okay....
Walt's one of those old-school union hacks. He hates Republicans, just because. He is firmly behind his union no matter how much the union screws him. He has an "us versus them" mindset about workers and owners / managers. Further, he thinks that the world is out to get workers and turn them into mindless slaves. I'm sure he'd gleefully volunteer to be a "leg breaker" in a union strike when it comes to scabs.

stfu, so stupid.

The belief that tipping has gotten out of hand and must be either scaled back or ended has extensive appeal across the political spectrum.

@countryboy while you are at it. I think you should report my sock (Litmus) you claim I am and have it removed by Dammo. Let's see how much fun that would be!
