Depends on why they fear their life. If an adult is at home in your bed with the doors locked, and he lies their afraid for his life because a monster might appear from under his bed and eat him, yes he is mentally ill.

I know, I am not saying he will be found not guilty due to his mental illness, I am saying, if he was afraid for his life it was because mental illness put him in that situation.

that might be true, but that's not what we're discussing here, is it? maybe people think that someone wanting to reduce a human to sub class status by denying them basic rights is mental illness

I think reducing a human to a murdered pile of flesh and bones crumpled on the street because you put yourself in a situation that triggered you, unjustifiably... should be illegal.

You seem to be arguing that someone that is committing a crime can claim self defense if they kill someone while committing that crime.
It was illegal for Rittenhouse at 17 to be carrying a loaded weapon on the street. There is a reason why his defense lawyers are trying to get that criminal charge dropped.
