Robert Kennedy Assassination

I was 10 and devastated when JFK was killed. Remember crying a lot and telling my mom that he saved my oldest brother (then age 20) from going to war and us from being bombed. By age 14, when RFK was murdered, I understand the national ramifications, or at least thought that I did.

Do you ever wonder what the world and our country would be today if those two men hadn't died when they did, and MLK and Malcolm X as well? Someone back then did not want change and was willing to find stooges to kill to prevent it.

I was 8 and remember it. My grandfather died the same month and I remember visiting him while he was in an oxygen tent. I think Bobby would have had a larger impact on the country than Jack did.

I would’ve voted for Martin O’Malley in 2016 even over my preferred libertarian candidate (who turned out to be a real bust).
Jim Webb was a good one too.

Keep voting for the libertarian, we don't need assholes like you affecting who actually ends up being the president.

Have you ever noticed that So-called Libertarians do not want anyone to tell them what they can or cannot do- BUT, that don't stop them from telling everyone else what they should be able to do and not do!

People with this kind of Mentality need to live on their own Island- because they will never be able to live happily in society!

Libertarians cannot even get along with other Libertarians!

Hint: Then they aren't really Libertarians. They're Alt-Righties in Libertarian clothing. :)

In retrospect, I agree. He was more honest than his brother.

I agree!

Most people I know that call themselves Libertarians, are Republicans that are too ashamed of the Republican Party of today, to call themselves Republicans anymore!

TO prove it, show me someone who calls themselves a Libertarian that don't vote with the Republicans that are trying to end abortions.

True Libertarians would never impose a law to end all abortions!

That would be total conflict of interest for a Libertarian to be behind the government telling women what they can do and not do with their very own bodies!

While I agree they are ashamed of the Republican Party, it's because they have moved so far to the right that they think most Republicans are "RINOs". Calling themselves Libertarians is just an excuse to do whatever they want just like the Alt-Righties who claim to be Christians do even though they never do anything remotely Christian.

If you actually believe your vote makes any difference or has made any difference in the outcome of any election, I have beachfront property in AZ for sale I think you'd be interested in.

It's mostly to make me feeeeel good about myself and civic duty.
(See post #72 :palm:)
Why would you feel good doing something you consider useless and a waste of time?

What good is a civic duty that does nothing...according to you?

Same reason I used to feel good going to my kids' h.s. open house. Shows concern but in the end, useless.
Gets one out of the house and away from posting on stupid message boards.
Disagreed that showing concern for your kid is useless. You're the kid's parent and mentor. You're teaching them that family matters.

Voting matters too. Saying one vote doesn't matter is wrong as shown in all the elections swayed by a single vote. On average, it's more of a statement. Election math. It shows how strongly the citizenry supports or opposes a candidate or a proposal. Even if voting third party knowing your candidate will lose. As much as Americans prize their individuality, it's when we vote that we prove we are one nation, one state, or one community.

People should vote even if they know they are in the minority. Election math sends a message.

If 10 voters are eligible for an election but only 6 actually vote, the 6 votes will be "100%" of the voters. If 5 of them voted for Trump and 1 for Biden, then it would be 83%+ voting for Trump. If 8 voted, again with 5 voting for Trump, then Trump would still win but the percentage would be 62%+ for Trump. The more even the vote, the less power for the winners.

Remember when GW Bush declared 51% was a "mandate from the people"? All the smart people knew he was full of shit...and it's mostly the smart people with the money.

My advice to all Americans is to VOTE, even if in the minority. Skew the numbers. LOL

I don't recall telling anyone what they should be able to do and not do. Maybe you can link to one of my posts where I do this.
