Ron DeSantis to hold Florida businesses accountable for employing illegal immigrants

They aren't illegal. They're asylum seekers. If you put them to work, of course they would be processed first and given SS numbers, etc..

I'm not talking about having them work on construction crews doing your roof...which is rampant in this nation. Those actually ARE jobs that are being taken from Americans.

Meat packers, not so much.
You're parsing, Althea. If a person enters the country illegally and works illegally, they are illegals.

If they are asylum seekers, they turn themselves in at the border and await adjudication.

It already is illegal to hire non-citizens. What's happening is:

1. Employers aren't being held accountable for illegal practices or;

2. Undocumented workers purchase false documents that give them the appearance of being citizens.

1. Agreed, which is why I support the actions of States and Federal law enforcement agencies to crack down on employers. AFAIK, penalties are only fines, not prison. I favor prison sentences for law-breaking employers. Start with a month and work up to years for repeat offenders.

2. Beef up the system. Use biometrics. Beef up and require the use of E-verify. Want a job or rent an apartment? Get verified.

Its great to see a leftist be so concerned about the welfare or about the employment of illegals, yet seems not to give a sweet shit about the thousands of laid off-fired legitimate and US citizens/workers by Biden from the Keystone Pipeline et al.

Nobody crossing the border is doing it illegally. In fact, the thousand or so that came here last week are all sponsored.
I don't care if they work illegally. They are no worse than the millons of Americans who work for cash. If they are hired, pay taxes and FICA, they are not working illegally. You're thinking about trump's employees.

Nobody was fired who works on the Keystone pipeline. You need some new material

Which is the problem. You don't care if some laws are broken but you want to enforce others. The White Supremacists don't care if some laws are broken but want to enforce others.

IMO, we should enforce all the laws.

Well then. Why don't you go job to job in Texas and see how many Americans are working for cash? That would be a great start.

Meanwhile, I'm interested in getting the meat packers, and agricultural workers positions filled.

Go fuck yourself for your inference

You wouldn't believe how easy it is to get a "under-the-table" job.
Well...typically the employer saves on a number of taxes and workman's comp. Until someone gets hurt.

Employees don't realize that the day will come when they regret not paying into FICA

Yeah. Well usually the jobs are temporary in nature. One to few days. When an employer needs workers quickly without the hassles, they have them picked up. Usually for construction jobs. Since it's temporary and the workers are unknown, it's hard to enforce the law.

In many cases, as well as what we now call 'gig workers'.

But quite a few construction companies receive a lot of cash, and pay employees under the table all year long. Same for landscapers, etc.. Quite a few homeowners offer cash in order to save thousands on the cost of the job.

Our Republican board members don't believe in taxes. They'd rather focus on immigrants, who are more than happy to work on the books.

I expect you're the one who's getting his leaves blown by illegals......

And who do you think is mowing MARry-A-LArdO, and/or the Governor's mansion? Trust me, they are not checking them for green card status!

I actually enjoy the Sunshine, the smell of freshly mowed grass, the fresh air, the outdoors, and the physical workout of doing my own lawn and gardening!

All my leaves are composted either in place as they fell, or the ones on the lawn that go into the compost heap!

And it gives me the chance to sport my all new Battery-operated lawn equipment!

I highly recommend it to all the lazy FAT ASSES out there, that want to be healthy for the rest of their lives.

Lots. Even legal Americans don't like to pay taxes. Do you really think anyone that works for tips gives a strict accounting of their income?

Why do you start with the homeowner paying someone to mow his lawn to Walmart? Do you work for a corporation that employs illegals, Althea?

Then change the law instead of advocating breaking it. If you break a law in employing illegals, than why can't someone else break a law by dating 17 year olds? Once you break the line between advocating legal and advocating illegal, then you are no better than any other criminals such burglars, carjackers or snake oil salesmen pushing HCQ as a COVID cure.

Because Trump has been hiring them for decades.

No doubt. Where I say "crack down and enforce the law", Althea is siding with Trump. LOL

I think we did both agree on the necessity of Immigration Reform. Where we parted was whether to punish companies for hiring illegals, specifically in a meat packing facility....presumably so he could keep the price of his breakfast sausage down.

I say start locking up employers and renters for enticing illegals to stay and work in the US. Opponents want to keep the meat-packing plants working....as if paying legal employees to do so wouldn't do that. Obviously, keeping meat lower priced is worth breaking the law and abusing illegals to some people.
