Ron DeSantis to hold Florida businesses accountable for employing illegal immigrants

Bullshit on straying.
than why can't someone else break a law by dating 17 year olds? Once you break the line between advocating legal and advocating illegal, then you are no better than any other criminals such burglars, carjackers or snake oil salesmen pushing HCQ as a COVID cure.

Agreed on immigration as a wedge issue. It's like race politics and guns for the Democrats. Both parties use fearmongering to energize voters.

The Republican triple fearmongering strategy is Abortion, Gay Marriage and Illegal Immigrants. This mainly started after the Cold War ended and is the primary reason why the GOP is D-E-A-D. It's just "the Republican Party" now.

Even though he won, remember how Pedo Don used lies about illegals to explain why Hillary won the popular vote?

Donald Trump wrongly says the number of illegal immigrants is 30 million or higher

Donald Trump's Pants on Fire claim that millions of illegal votes cost him popular vote victory
Yes.

And, it's the term I have a problem with. trump shut down every single method of immigration/asylum seeking. As such, everyone who wanted to come here was automatically 'illegal'. Shutting down the borders offered a way to declare everyone 'illegal'. People waited in line for days at the gates of the border, and each day were told to come back tomorrow. His platform entailed shutting the nation off from the outside if you are a brown person.

Meanwhile, the Kushner Klan was in China selling citizenship to anyone who wanted to invest $500k in a trump/Kushner project.

Perfectly legal. And that's a problem.

Melania came here under false pretenses, but was allowed to stay. trump then 'chain migrated' her parents while denouncing brown immigrants from 'shithole' countries.

It's a perfect issue to motivate the masses.

Which is why Boehner and then Ryan refused to allow it to be addressed.

Rather than bitching about companies hiring illegal workers, we should be bitching at lawmakers to implement a guest worker pass system so that these companies aren't forced to go outside the law.

Of course that will never happen as long as the ass-licking Repugnant party is only interested in licking the asses of their ignorant, bigoted, narrow-minded, xenophobic, right-wing Trumper voting base.

They would rather have the illegal immigration issue to use against the Democrats than to solve the problem.
Yep.

True story:

trump's policy of waiting in Mexico has never been lifted, but somehow Biden has an open border policy.

True story:

Biden admin has deported more immigrants than trump did.

Part of Trump's shutdown was COVID driven, even though it played directly into his ideology.

Regardless of Trump's lies, the fact remains that advocating illegals enter, stay and work in America just to keep down the prices of sausage, vegetables and hotel rooms is not sufficient, IMO, to condone a modern form of slavery.

Covid was 4 years after he removed nursing babies from their mother's breasts.

But yes...he was eventually able to use Covid as an excuse. Ironic, because Covid was a hoax.

We have a severe shortage of labor in this nation, coupled with an influx of people who are happy to work. Getting stuck on a term doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

We fast track immigration for the wealthy. I see no reason why these people cannot be put to work. It doesn't matter if they are citizens. Give them work visas.

Agreed on visas. Disagreed on advocating an informal system of slavery by continuing to advocate illegal immigration. Worse because most of those advocating it do so to keep their prices low. You know, just like those who tacitly supported slavery to keep down the cost of cotton.

Slaves never got paid, so sensationalizing immigrants does nothing. Ironically, many of the established immigrant construction workers are getting very good at charging outlandish prices after all these years.

But...cultures are different. It's not uncommon for several families to live in what we would consider cramped conditions, as long as they can make ends meet. Because it's STILL much better than the conditions that they left.

So what we consider slave wages actually works out fine for them. We have no idea what it's like to be happy to be gone from the violence and oppression, and being able to keep everything that they earn.

Americans work for slave wages in right to work states, so the argument falls a tad flat.

I completely disagree with your assertion that illegals are treated as fairly by employers and renters as legal residents.

As a business owner, I absolutely support DeSantis on this.

Every single one of my employees is eligible to legally work in the United States. We use E-Verify to help ensure that every single person we hire is authorized to work in the United States...

Democrats can't meme. Illegal immigrants aren't holding technology jobs.

So.....we complain about meat prices because there aren't enough workers in meat processing plants.

Same for other supply chain issues. I'm not sure where all the workers went in this nation? All we hear about is a lack of labor.

It's always been U.S policy to grant temp. visas for workers who come here for seasonal work. Why not put these people to work if there is such a labor shortage?

Supply chain issues are not because there are not enough people.

Trump didn't shut anything down. DEMOCRATS did.

The 'labor shortage' is nothing more than lazy people.
