Trump “angrily demanded to go to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and berated his protective detail when he didn’t get his way,” CNN reports, citing “two Secret Service sources who say they heard about the incident from multiple agents, including the driver of the presidential SUV where it occurred.”

That directly supports Hutchinson’s remarks before the U.S. House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack in her surprise bombshell testimony Tuesday. “The sources tell CNN that stories circulated about the incident,” CNN adds, “in the months immediately afterward the US Capitol attack and before she testified this week.
CNN also reports that “one source, a longtime Secret Service employee, told CNN that the agents relaying the story described Trump as ‘demanding’ and that the former President said something similar to: ‘I’m the f**king President of the United States, you can’t tell me what to do.’ The source said he originally heard that kind of language was used shortly after the incident.”

Hutchinson had told the Committee a Trump aide, Anthony Ornato, had told her Trump got into the presidential limo, which was not “The Beast,” as right-wing propagandists are claiming, but an SUV, and said: “I’m the f-ing president! Take me up to the Capitol now!”

The Secret Service has an important job.

They protect the president from harm.

They prevented him from going to the Capitol because it wasn't safe and secure.

It wasn't safe and secure at the Capitol because of what Trump did.

The Secret Service found themselves in the unusual position of protecting the president from the president.

If they had allowed him to go, he would have been right in the middle if the insurrection, thus unable to claim it was not his doing.

The Secret Service protected Trump from himself.

What she testified to...in answer to a question...was NOT hearsay.

She testified that Tony Ornato told her that xyz happened.

That is NOT hearsay.

She is not testifying to what happened, she is testifying to what she was told.

It WOULD be allowed in a "real trial."

She did not testify to Trump's behavior. She testified to what she was told. And she testified truthfully to what she was told.

I do understand what hearsay means legally. Hearsay is defined as an out-of-court statement, made in court, to prove the truth of the matter asserted.

She was not trying to prove the truth of the matter asserted...that Trump did what she was told he did. She was testifying to what she was told.

She IS allowed to do that...and it is admissible for the purposes of what she was told. It is not in anyway proof of the assertion of what she was told.
