Section 4 - Unconstitutional!

In Florida, last election, my wife was turned away because her D/L was expired. After a two hour wait! She had to go back the next day and wait again. I took half a day off of work to watch the kids so she could vote.

That's not cool in the United States.

Yes, due to manipulation by our Republican Governor.

awe, you mean the Democrats who control your voting district weren't smart enough to have enough machines for ALL their residents to vote?......they probably shouldn't have shifted so much of their budget into their own bank accounts......

I hope you drove her to get her license renewed so she didn't violate the law......

So you obviously paid zero attention to the whole Pennsylvania attempt to institute voter id laws... the number of people affected... that the DMV places in some counties were only open four hours a week... that it would have taken the state longer to process ids for everyone than there was time before the election.

Read up on the case against the Pennsylvania laws, and then maybe you might learn why these laws discriminate against the poor and the elderly. And because a higher percentage of poor people are minority it has a disparate impact upon minority voters.

That's what voting rights act was about - ensuring laws passed did not have a disparate impact on minority voters. It's not a question of whether the rule is applied to all voters; it's whether it will keep more minorities from voting than it would non-minorities from voting.

So yes, voter ID is racist - it has a disparate impact on minorities. Also on poor and elderly, but the voting rights act was concerned with racism.

:good4u: Amen!

requiring a voter ID isn't racist.........personally I expect that high hurdle to keep most Democrats away from the polls, regardless of race......shucks, even after being instructed they won't be able to figure out how to face the camera.....

Check the history of voter ID laws. You probably voted without one for decades.

Well, they did that last time - in Florida, in Pennsylvania. While fighting the laws in the courts and whatnot, they did a big push to get people registered properly. When Florida cut way back on early voting, they worked on getting people to the polls. And look what happened in Florida - Obama won it. I believe he took Pennsylvania also.

Don't piss people off by trying to take away their voting rights. You can make it harder, but it just makes them much more determined to vote.

Yes, Obama won easily here in PA. A number of conservatives here tried to say there was going to be an upset... not just an upset but a Romney win by a blowout.

Isn't it her responsibility to make sure her license is current?

/shrugs....trolls don't stick around and argue.......if you have any comments I'm here to shoot them down all day.....

You're a troll because you are bringing up things that have already been discussed, whether in this thread or others, for the purpose of derailing the thread or to annoy people.

No, the gov, refused to extend early voting.

PMP knows about the ids, about the lack of early voting, etc. He just wants to go on and on about his incorrect points because he's a troll.
