Sex offenders have kerfew

Child molestation is not just a counter culture Damo ?
Oh, it is a counter-culture. But it is one created on and perpetuated by those who would victimize the most innocent. It is not one that is acceptable by any means, nor IMO is there any level of acceptable recidivism.

Damo, I don't believe in life in sentence without parole, for any crime. And yeah, you can call me an idealist for that, but your arguments will be just the same as for the people who love the death penalty.

WTF are you trying to get me to say?

You're asking me loaded questions and emoting all over the place. Just tell me what you're loaded questions are trying to get me to say so that I can say it and you can be happy with yourself.

I don't really care if they are in prison or not, as long as they never have access to another child again. Find a way to assure that and I'll happily agree we should let them out. The goal isn't to continue punishing them, but to protect their potential victims.

I haven't asked a question in a long time. I have given my opinion, clearly and concisely.

Damo, can't people escape from prison and continue molesting then?
Not regularly, but at least it would not be a choice of society to put them in such a position. Society must take on some responsibility for the release of cirminals that allow for an "acceptable" recidivism. Since each crime is different, as well as the recidivism, each are taken separately.

You're trying to get me to say that I believe in an acceptable rate of recividism. All crimes are going to have recividism, Damo...

You can stick your head in the sand, lock everyone up forever, or institute effective reforms.

Now, I just believe it's a crime in itself to say for sure that someone will never have a second chance at life. I don't believe in the death penalty or life without parole, as a matter of principle.

Or you can choose which crimes you are willing to accept recidivism on, then make laws that coincide with such assessments.

You know me, Damo. I fought you just as hard for believe in life solitary confinement as I did against the people who believe in the death penalty. It's just my principle. It's why I believe I have supported the harshet non-capital penalties possible, but get angry and irate anytime anyone suggests capital punishment for anything.

Well of course they can. Chemical castration is about 99% effective. Group therapy also helps. Saying they can't be cured or rehabilited is ignorance.

It's not ignorance, if you can find reports of successful treatments then please post them, I'd be really interested to read them and then follow up with some key senior people in my jurisdiction who would love to know as well..
