I'm not an expert on "the Nordic countries", I can't remember ever referencing them. I do know that to retire most of our war debt after War 2 we taxed the wealthy as high as 95% on income over a base amount; I think it was $5 million dollars.

Well leftists often refer the Nordic countries as examples of where we should be heading. In Nordic countries like America where nearly half the people don't pay federal income tax, everyone pays taxes. Plus there is an additional value added tax on EVERY purchase in those countries. The VAT has been floated in this country for years and leftists have railed against it. Taxes in this country bare a weapon wielded by leftists to punish success.
