Minsk is an interesting port for sure. Nice to see the older restaurants still around. It has changed considerably in the last 20 years or so.
Thanks.
Minsk is probably 200 kilometers inland from the Baltic Sea, so you are undoubtedly are thinking of another city.

Minsk is notable in that it was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis during the German occupation of 1941-45. It had to be completely rebuilt by the Soviets. So the small parts that still exist of old historic Minsk are pretty noteworthy.

As for food, what we need around here are some good Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Byelorussian restaurants. Sadly, I find that Americans do not have an affinity for Baltic food! Must be all the smelly pickled, smoked, and salted fish.

Okay, not a corn field. lol I don't have any burning desire to visit Ohio for any reason, but if we are ever in the Dayton area we'll check it out. We sometimes visited Dierdorf and Hart's, a high end steak house in the STL area, but they closed a few years ago. They were outstanding. Once we went to Ruth's Chris steakhouse with our (coincidentally-named) brother/sister-in-law named Ruth and Chris. It was disappointing, esp. given the high prices. Just a steak! Sides were extra! And the steaks weren't as good as what we can grill at home.

That reflects my experience with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Seattle. Much, pricey ado about nothing.

Thanks.

I mean Minsk. The Pripyat River. Small port up there, Mazyr. Barge traffic mostly. Smoked herring from that way is good stuff!

Phanny has no problem with people breaking that law.

How many that support State laws allowing getting smoked up would prosecute to the fullest extent of the law someone eating an owl burger? How many that would support prosecuting someone eating an owl burger ignore or overlook the laws related to illegal immigration?

Who, hoo?

Thankfully in the absence of thread bans we have the glorious and beloved JPP ignore feature. lol

The Red Hen in Lexington Virginia had the best
Surf and Turf ,I ever had.
Wasn't easy to get reservations.
Luckily my Congresswoman had connections.

Oh yum. Crab cakes are amazing, when done right. Love those family-owned places too. That's one thing I really like about this place, fewer chains and more locally-owned shops and restaurants.

They are even better home made with Alaskan King Crab leg meat.

Oh yes.

The Harrah's casino in STL used to have a seafood restaurant called "Moby's" and they served crab cakes as an appetizer. They were super expensive and huge... about the size of a CD disk. They were almost all king crab meat and very little filler. One of those and a bowl of clam chowder and you were done.
