Thanks.Minsk is an interesting port for sure. Nice to see the older restaurants still around. It has changed considerably in the last 20 years or so.
Minsk is probably 200 kilometers inland from the Baltic Sea, so you are undoubtedly are thinking of another city.
Minsk is notable in that it was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis during the German occupation of 1941-45. It had to be completely rebuilt by the Soviets. So the small parts that still exist of old historic Minsk are pretty noteworthy.
As for food, what we need around here are some good Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Byelorussian restaurants. Sadly, I find that Americans do not have an affinity for Baltic food! Must be all the smelly pickled, smoked, and salted fish.
