SO HOW MANY OF YOU LOVERS OF DEMOCRAZY WOULD...

THEY DID NOT REJECT DEMOCRACY YOU LIAR

You need to read (carefully) Federalist #10 and Madison will tell you exactly why he rejects democracy in favor of a republic. He is the main author of the Constitution and obviously thought there are some differences in the terms.

Forget about the Dictionary or copy & paste from Wickipedia and go to the source.

bring your evidence for all to see

shit bag liar

then why are you not yelling at the people in this tread that keep saying we are NOT a democracy

because you are a hack

I don't yell and insult people. That is your domain.

I have responded to many I disagree with about that issue. The term that is used is meaningless unless you specify how it applies in practice. I have heard many say the electoral college and senate are not democratic--are they also rejecting the democracy label.

We would have to specify all the characteristics we think applies to a representative democracy.

For example, if a majority of the people wanted to deny free speech to Muslims and white supremacists, is that a democracy?

The majority rule by the people concept applies. There is nothing in the definition that says civil liberties are protected even against the majority. We would have to add that as a separate characteristic that is not part of the dictionary definition although many think it is an important part.

Yes, exactly. Now you understand the difference. This is what the founders were referring to when they rejected democracy.

and here you are saying we are NOT a Democracy

what a piece of shit you are

Ill take John Adams over you and so would all of America

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy

Democracy (Greek: δημοκρατία dēmokratía, literally "rule by people") is a system of government where the citizens exercise power by voting. In a direct democracy, the citizens as a whole form a governing body and vote directly on each issue. In a representative democracy the citizens elect representatives from among themselves. These representatives meet to form a governing body, such as a legislature. In a constitutional democracy the powers of the majority are exercised within the framework of a representative democracy, but the constitution limits the majority and protects the minority, usually through the enjoyment by all of certain individual rights, e.g. freedom of speech, or freedom of association.[1][2]

You would know I am not lying if you actually took the time to read it and see what Madison wanted. Certainly, majority rule (which most associate with a democracy) was something he thought was a terrible solution. Even our representatives should not vote on what their constituents wanted because that is the same thing as majority rule. The representatives were expected to make decisions based on the best interests of the nation as a whole--not the majority.

One negative about the internet is that it has made us unwilling to read anything longer than a few sentences--our attention spans are too short.

a republic is IN FACT a type of democracy

why are you trying real hard to say the founders rejected Democracy asshole

But not you huh asshole

I never said that. More time reading and less time writing insults would help you understand more. We started out a republic with few democratic aspects but have evolved into a more democratic system over time.

Why do you keep repeating Adams when the Constitution had not even been written in 1784.

So, you think the electoral college and Senate are democratic?

Your "facts" are a quote from Adams before the Constitution existed. Federalist #10 was written by the man who wrote most of the document AFTER the Constitution was finished except the Bill of Rights.

A pure Democracy, by which I mean a Society consisting of a small number of citizens, who assemble and administer the Government in person, can admit of no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or interest will, in almost every case, be felt by a majority of the whole; a communication and concert result from the form of Government itself; and there is nothing to check the inducements to sacrifice the weaker party, or an obnoxious individual. Hence it is, that such Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives, as they have been violent in their deaths.

here is another Madison quote

The growing wealth aquired by them corporations never fails to be a source of abuses.
James Madison

A few years following
the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, Adams constructed
Massachusetts’ new Constitution which offered an assortment of policies and
societal innovations used to this day. The Constitution written by Adams was
the first to be ratified by the people of the State and the first to feature a
bicameral legislature, a distinct judicial branch, and a clear executive with
two/thirds veto powers.
John Adams’
views on social classes and interaction are still relevant and innovative for
present day society. Adams believed that all forms of society would be
separated based on money or class. This notion was inevitable to Adams. However,
he believed that prominent or wealthy individuals should not take part in
politics because of their inherent power and inability to relate to the common
man. Adams never owned a slave nor believed in the idea of slavery. This stance
is a reflection of the man’s character and stresses his stance on civic virtues.
