SO HOW MANY OF YOU LOVERS OF DEMOCRAZY WOULD...

Where I live I have one gas company to choose from, I have one choice for electricity................

Sure I could live off the grid....

Most places have only one electric and or gas company, they are public utilities and are heavily regulated. They can't raise their prices without getting approval of the local govt.

And you could go off the grid for Electricity if you want you can buy solar panels.

I have a nice place in the country so I'm not a city dwelling wage slave. My wife and I have 3 business' and more than 400 acres of pasture, woods, and fields. I have my own Electricity generating capacity and the excess power is sold back to the local utility company. We heat mostly with wood but I have electric backup for when it gets really cold.

I chose to install solar and micro wind turbines 2 years ago and it's working out great. Nearly recovered my investment.

But like I said I'm a successful business man and not some wage slave living in an apartment in the city. I'm an example of what brains and smart investments can do for a person. I know some twat like that guno freak will say it's my white privilege but my race has nothing to do with it.

Maybe it is like Joe Biden said the other day, "Poor kids can be just as smart as 'white' kids."

Thanks for an update on your life... Did I ask you for all that??

I don't think I know you..

So I have zero reason to believe one word you volunteered, but hey it matters not to me, I hope you're happy......hats-off-salute-smiley-emoticon.gif

no reliable source can be found to back your rightwing lies on this

There is no contradiction in being a democracy and a republic. Does this definition sound like the U. S. or all those countries you listed?

"republic: a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch."

If we are going to use the dictionary, this proves it is also a republic.

Merriam-Webster:

"Definition of republic

1a(1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president
(2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government
b(1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law"

Only for those who feel powerless and want the government to make it all better by getting all the mean people.

yeah those founders

what were they thinking huh

THE FOUDERS built this nation to empower the people to protect themselves from their current government which was USING AND ABUSING them

WRONG. We are a Federated Republic. We are ruled by a Constitution, not by a mob.

Why are you so angry?

your side tryng to call democracy mob rule and nit wanting this nation to recognize democracy

A democratic republic is a form of government operating on principles adopted from a republic and a democracy. Rather than being a cross between two entirely separate systems, democratic republics may function on principles shared by both republics and democracies.

Theory[edit]
Common definitions of the terms democracy and republic often feature overlapping concerns, suggesting that many democracies function as republics, and many republics operate on democratic principles, as shown by these definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary:
Republic: "A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives..."[1]
Democracy: "A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."[2]
Eugene Volokh of the UCLA School of Law notes that the United States exemplifies the varied nature of a constitutional republic—a country where some decisions (often local) are made by direct democratic processes, while others (often federal) are made by democratically elected representatives.[3] As with many large systems, US governance is incompletely described by any single term. It also employs the concept, for instance, of a constitutional democracy in which a court system is involved in matters of jurisprudence.[3]
As with other democracies, not all persons in a democratic republic are necessarily citizens, and not all citizens are necessarily entitled to vote.[4] Suffrage is commonly restricted by criteria such as voting age.[5]
History[edit]
In the US, the notion that a republic was a form of democracy was common from the time of its founding, and the concepts associated with representative democracy (and hence with a democratic republic) are suggested by John Adams (writing in 1784):
No determinations are carried, it is true, in a simple representative democracy, but by consent of the majority or their representatives.[6]

John Adams (writing in 1784):
No determinations are carried, it is true, in a simple representative democracy, but by consent of the majority or their representatives.

WRONG. We are a Federated Republic. We are ruled by a Constitution, not by a mob.

You are going to be extremely hard pressed to find a reputable dictionary definition that defines Democracy as "mob rule".

Oxford English Dictionary
The Definitive Record of the English Language

Democracy (definition) - "Government by the people; that form of government in which the sovereign power resides in the people as a whole, and is exercised either directly by them (as in the small republics of antiquity) or by officers elected by them. In modern use often more vaguely denoting a social state in which all have equal rights, without hereditary or arbitrary differences of rank or privilege.'

"Mob rule" as a metaphor for democracy is not even one of your own original thoughts. You did not think it up yourself. You read it somewhere else on the internets and thought is sounded good enough to parrot here.

Using the term "mob rule" is a sign of rightwing ignorance, lack of historical knowledge, and an affinity to indulge in naked dishonesty>>>

Yes, they empowered the people not to depend on the government. That is why they created so many ways to fragment governmental power to prevent any faction from imposing its will on others.

Well, I don't know why the Republican assholes believe that, but just reading Madison's Federalist #10 tells me he clearly rejected democracy in favor of a republic.

The definitions you are giving are very broad and vague. There are too many variations to fit that simple definition. A republic is rule by representative. How democratic that system is has varied throughout our history. For example, those representatives are not necessarily elected by the voters--our system is a good example because the only office which received popular votes was the House.

I thought you were one of the posters who complained that the electoral college and Senate are not democratic---was that not you?

You obviously misunderstood my post. I said nothing about you not believing we are both. However, you only claimed we are a "democracy," not a democratic republic or representative democracyesd

When the founders rejected democracy they rejected the concept that the government should do what a majority wanted. One of their examples was the state governments which were absolving the debts accumulated to finance the revolution or issuing cheap paper money to lessen the cost because the citizens did not want to pay those debts.
