So now MAGA wants to pay to teach kids how to shoot a bow and arrow?

I do think about it because that's the way that I was brought up... to respect the flag ...to respect the singing of the national anthem ... It's a Wonderful tradition and I think you would be surprised how many people do take it seriously... and are focused on the anthem... you have surely seen videos of something going wrong with the sound system ...The Anthem stops playing but the people continue to sing... We're all anxious for the kickoff.. the beginning of the meet... whatever it may be.. but the anthem is still important to the majority of people... I love to hear a band play the national anthem as the flag is raised... I think most people do...

And yet no one in your family served in the military, just a flag waving phony

Cause we had no need for a calculator, and the technology kids learn today at an earlier age we would have never been able to master back in the days of chalk and blackboards. Nor did we have the competing information sources pounding us 24/7 as kids today experience, our world was pretty cut and dry

We didn’t have it any tougher, and don’t say you never heard an adult in your youth tell you how tough they had it, walking two miles in the snow everyday back and forth to school

Master? Master what? Kids today are lost if the cash register doesn't tell them how much change to give.
So schools don't have chalk boards today? Our world was not cut and dried. We had ambitions, more than many kids do today.

Why didn't we? I walked a mile to school every day, then passed papers after school and that was at least 5 miles. How many kids do you see passing papers today?

I like the convenience of modern calculators.

I do, however, suggest learning basic math without one as I did so many decades ago.

The way things are going, we may very well be fucked.

You younger people are the ones who need to care, though.

not many, sure. I do see them being moved out of blue states and in to red states with better economic policies. It's also pretty telling that SHOULD hard times happen, you people in the cities of 21st century America are going to die. Whether through criminal attrition or starvation remains to be seen.

Yeah, some are moving out of blue States into urban areas in Red States, few anywhere are exiting to bumpkinville, and with climate change, they’ll be back in a decade or two

Well if the Sharknado you think is approaching no one will be safe anywhere and I’d take my chances in the city

That's the spirit!! (No calculators allowed in my class... of course we had a daily living skills curriculum firmly in place...)

household chores as a kid doesn't count, which might explain why you rebel against personal responsibility. Did you have to do those with no allowance?

you should try it sometime........doing it so your single mother can work 3 part time jobs to keep you fed and clothed........or try working a detassling job at the age of 12 so you can buy your own school clothes for the next year.......or waking up at 4 am on school days so you can walk a mile and a half to one of the town cafe's and clean it up so it's ready to open and still be in your first class at high school. Or a summer job, every day, driving a water tanker to help spray the crop fields in your county while missing your entire summer vacation........

you have zero fucking idea what hard knocks is.

Allowance, what allowance, the even younger kids did the household chores, and forget the sob story, everyone has their own version, as I said, those on the right just love to play the martyr

thank you for showing us you have no understanding of the influence the media has over people.........

So now one person in the media influences “hundreds of people? Then again you are a Murdoch loyalist so I can understand how one talking head would sway your opinions

So do I. It makes figuring angles, tapers feeds and speeds much easier and much faster.

But knowing how to trig something out on paper is an advantage when you have no calculator.

Yes, I agree.

Some do care though. I'm just wondering if enough do.

Still disagree, if a sound system was playing one of Springsteen‘s hits and it went off many people would still sing the lyrics without even taking a second to understand what he is singing. Other people do it cause they think it shows how patriotic they are, always chuckle at those who put their hand on their heart and then look around to see if anyone else is doing it

And don’t get me started on the flag, I think it is disgraceful to see a home flying a flag out front all faded, worn out, and ripped because they haven’t taken it down in years

school shootings are rare ...so STFU about um

The Education Department reports that roughly 50 million children attend public schools for roughly 180 days per year. Since Columbine, approximately 200 public school students have been shot to death while school was in session......That means the statistical likelihood of any given public school student being killed by a gun, in school, on any given day since 1999 was roughly 1 in 614,000,000 .

struck by lightning 1 in 15,300

Ah pal, that is 200 hundred innocent kids every year massacred unnecessarily, if you don’t think that is a problem you live in a strange reality

Poor anchovies, "piss away money" you have got to be kidding me. Perhaps funding drag queen story hours in schools or teaching kids they can pick their gender is money better spent? You friggin lefties make me laugh. The best part is, America is waking up to your perverted thinking. Get woke, go broke.
Go have another bud light.

But you want to do it teaching bows and arrows, hypocrisy, and I don’t drink piss beer

Why do they need to? And he they can do things with a word processing program that you didn’t even know was possible

And we got another walking miles to school, so far, the two miles and having to do it before the sun rising is the best, your one mile narrative is nothing

For what it's worth, I walked around the corner to go to school

and didn't go much further than that to go to uni.

It was essentially flat, neither up or downhill hill either way,

and it only snowed a few time a year.

I couldn't tell the usual school hardship stories to my kids because
I had things easier than they did.

Instead, I went with the growing up in the Depression stories,
but their grandparents blew my cover on that one too.

I thought that there were certain things that parents traditionally lied to their kids about.

Sure it is, and the narratives get better every generation, the school of hard knocks gets tougher

And, I rode a bike, which all these miles to school stories always leave out

”Republicans unveil effort to claw back school funds Biden admin is holding over hunting, archery classes”

“FIRST ON FOX: A group of House Republicans led by Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., are unveiling legislation to reverse the Biden administration's crackdown on school hunting education and archery programs nationwide.”

“Tenney — joined by Reps. Russ Fulcher, R-Idaho, Jim Banks, R-Ind., and Brandon Williams, R-N.Y. — plans to introduce the Protecting Hunting and Archery in Schools Act, which would remove the current federal restriction on funding hunting and archery programs.”

“The Biden administration continues to advance its radical anti-Second Amendment agenda by prohibiting ESEA funding for archery and shooting sports programs”

Their constantly bitching on how schools suck yet they want to pay to teach kids how to shoot arrows, and the best part is that suddenly this is now a Second Amendment issue

And the MAGA militia eats up all this shit propagandized by Murdoch to make a buck

Oh, this sounds so great, I just hope mommie and daddy are used as targets.....and trust and believe, its gonna come down like that, cause white ppl are stupid!!

Yea up hill each way

More rural rube stories :palm:

You not having children don't have a clue

Word processing programs? BFD! They should at least know how to add and subtract.

Yeah, it was about a mile to our middle school, which has been torn down. Kids are bussed to the new schools, or mommy or daddy drives them to school.

What's wrong with funding such programs at schools? By the way, these programs don't pay participants to be in them, the funding is to allow them to operate just like other classes and programs in public schools do.
