I placed a Chinese female MD in Portland to shadow another Chinese female MD.. Big mistake.. One spoke Mandarin and the other spoke Cantonese and they hated each other on sight. The Mandarin doctor said her patients were offended.

While in school once, one of my training brothers hipped me to the serious disparage between the two. Weird, but I guess no more so than any other prejudice in any other culture.
