Stern: "Trump actually hates his own supporters".

Hello Woko Haram,

Obama probably thinks highly of the average black person. Not so much regarding the average person of any other race, however....

To be fair though, multiple studies (including the ACES one) have shown that black people do tend to have a higher amount of ingroup bias than other races, so I can't hold this completely against him. His perspective is largely a product of his culture.

Speculative.

Hello Woko Haram,

Yes, it's speculative, just like what all of you are doing regarding Trump.

There is speculation and there is gathering of facts. The challenge is to discern the difference. It's bad when you fool yourself. I'm sure the 'very stable genius' can reflect on that.

Yes, this proves nothing, especially since Obama was raised by his white Grandparents and mother.

It's pretty clear he doesn't identify as white, however. And obviously, people perceive him as black. As an adult, he's clearly associated more with black culture. Now, I will give you that his neighborhood is mostly white. That is the irony of how the elites live, however.

While the elites of the left speak of wanting more immigration and diversity, they usually live in the whitest parts of the country -- even if they aren't white themselves. They are against borders, unless it's the gated communities they live in.

When considering what LBJ said about black people, I seriously doubt this distinction you're making is true.

Also, the pandering that many on the left do towards black people (like Hillary and AOC affecting a "black" accent) is pretty insulting. Sadly, a lot of people either overlook this or just make excuses for it.

LBJ never actually said that. It's like George Washington said, "There are a lot of fake quotes on the internet."

I don't know if Hillary and AOC do the accent thing on purpose. Some people do just unintentionally mimic the talking style of the people they're talking to. And chances are Hillary doesn't hate Southerners, since she married one.

The quote I'm referencing hasn't been proven, but it fits with LBJ's opportunism and crass speech. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/lbj-voting-democratic/

So, we can at least say that he viewed certain economic policies as opportune for getting black votes.

I imagine having brown skin had a lot to do with that, don’t you think? Society use to dictate which group a mixed race child would associate with. Fortunately, in a lot of places that is no longer the case, you can just be a human, and don’t have to “belong” to the group your skin color dictates. You may have friends of every color. Raising children in Alaska, my children had Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American friends. I also see it here in Texas, groups of kids, neighborhoods as mixed and varied as this city. Times are changing and for the better!

I want to clarify something here. I'm not blaming Obama for identifying more as black. I'm just saying that black culture (like most minority cultures) is more prone to tribalism. White culture is comparably less that way. White people are, overall, more open to diversity than other races typically. White liberals even exhibit an outgroup bias (preference for non-whites).

The overall consequence of this, however, is that a minority official will be more prone to favor his or her own group than a white one (at least if we're talking about white liberals or white moderates).

Obviously, individuals can differ in their biases from what the average of their group is like, but we can also see certain trends via statistics.

I get that you've been alienated by the alt right, but using their terminology every chance you get just comes off as trying too hard.

I never wanted to be part of the Alt-Right. I found out they were homophobic and capitalist even before I knew they were sexist.
And they didn't come up with those terms. Especially "beta," that's been a thing for like ever.

Are you socialist? A lot of the alt right (at least Richard Spencer's version) is both socialist and racial separatist.

I don't know of many alt right figures that are highly capitalist. Many capitalists are often denigrated as alt right, but that's the MO of the left in general. Anyone they don't like is either a Nazi, alt right, and/or a fascist.

I'm a Social Democrat. We should have redistribution of wealth through social programs without giving up the mostly free market or private property.
Richard Spencer is surprisingly liberal when it comes to economics, but he's the exception. Most of the Alt-Right is against "giving people gibs." And Spencer definitely isn't a Social Democrat, since he doesn't believe in Democracy.

From what I've seen, it's not that they call someone Alt-Right if they're a Capitalist. They call someone Alt-Right if they're a Trumpcuck. Now I don't think that's accurate either, but it does make some sense. The Alt-Right is still a small minority on the Right, but they're the ones controlling the narrative of the Right now.

I obviously don’t agree with that. Take a trip to The Ozarks or Appalachia. Travel to Northern Idaho or Bozeman Montana, there is plenty of white tribalism.
