Surprise! Massachusetts pushes for spanking ban

is frankly just plain nuts...he goes on false outrage diatribes quite frequently...maybe his momma and pappa were really &*&%...so he thinks all parents are like his...a sorry state of affairs in the waterboy house!

that was disgusting and completely uneccessary.

I come from a long generational line of abusive. Just like all the fucking barbaric uneducated south.

My dad always used to justify getting the belt or switch out and hitting me as hard as he could 20 times in a row until I bled by saying how much worse his dad was. And I was like "Holy fuck! You were abused! How great!"

Nope.........

that was disgusting and completely uneccessary.

not at all...waterboy asked for a spanking...i'm sorry if the truth hurts...be a real mom and accept the facts as your Mother did...she spanked you and so should waterboy be spanked on the level he puts out!

Beating = abuse.

I'm not going to sit here and debate the difference between abuse and spanking to you. Clearly you have no frame of reference of the distinction and as such I'd advise you not to spank your children. But even amongs psychologists and board members there is a widely accepted understanding of the difference:

From my spam:
"By "spanking," Baumrind refers to striking the child on the buttocks, hands or legs with an open hand without inflicting physical injury and with the intention of modifying the child's behavior. "

No one sees that difference in the south. You need an instrument to "spank" in the south. I assume everyone accepts it:

"Man, I deserved to be taken outside, having my pants pulled down until it was bear skin, and beaten by switches until I bled because I got the discipline note for talking to much! It showed me how to be a great violent felon!"

Well...........

I can't even figure out what you're trying to say.

To be frank and based on your diatribes your parents abused you as a child...now you think ALL parents are abusers if they use the occassional spank as correction for really bad behavoir!

Google for help or check listings in your local area 'yellow pages'!

I'm sorry to hear that and from your description, it does sound like your dad went over the line, but it doesn't always have to be that way. Certainly drawing blood and hitting a child as hard as one could would qualify as abusive in my book. But as Rob pointed out its a gray area.

Hey Dano, why don’t you try showing some outrage over this story huh?

Cops: Mom says couple tortured ‘Baby Grace’
Mother reportedly tells police she, stepfather beat 2-year-old to death

You cons think that children are commodities, you think you own them. You think, “no one is going to tell me what to do with my kid”.
But yeah, someone is going to tell you, and you don’t own them, and that line that gets crossed between “spankings” and abuse, is nebulous and you can ask five fans of “spankings” right on this thread what their definition is, and they will all be different, with the religious ones being the most vicious, because “spare the ROD, spoil the child”. See, not spare the hand, but the ROD.

i take it a lot of republicans beat their kids... but in defense, i got a few wooden spoons cracked on me, got the belt, i personally think the worst out of any of them was getting my mouth washed out w/ soap, or when my mom tied me to a tree next to a beesnest with honey all over my body naked.

the problem with corprol punishment is that there is a lot of grey area's where does it go from reprimanding to child abuse?

i take it a lot of republicans beat their kids...

do you see a pattern here?

Abu Ghraib was nothing but a bunch of college pranks. Much ado about nothing.

I bet there was a lot of "spanking" going on at abu ghraib.

"Hey Dano, why don’t you try showing some outrage over this story huh?"

That was a terrible story.

I'm sure liberalism is to blame, though; either that, or Bill Clinton...
