Its a failure to get creative and figure out how to impart the message you need to impart to any aged kid. WHen my son would try and stand up in the cart at the store I would bend down and smack the ground with my hand and tell him how hard that ground was and how much it would hurt to fall and hit his head on it. He always sat down. I have done it to kids Ive passed in the store and on EVERY one it has worked.

Right, so the source of your claim that they were tortured is from whom? The enemy combatants who are trained to claim abuse and torture? So the government asserts the right to use "enhanced interrogation techniques" f.k.a. torture and to use evidence obtained as a result of those techniques in military tribunals yet your position is that it does not happen? Please.

Additionally, whether or not I can cite to individual occurrences does not change the fact that the government asserts the authority, which was my original point. Liberals want to assert the authority to make it a crime to beat your kids; conservatives assert the right to do all the acts I mentioned. That's the point.

I am a very polite person in person. I was never very polite until about 8 years ago, whenever my dad gave up on corporal punishment.

He probably stopped because he didn't NEED to do it anymore. My older kids rarely need a spank now and hopefully never will.

This whole issue is mind boggling to me because if I choose to use a different punishment such as a swat on the ass for doing something very bad it is not being a bad parent or criminal.. and also nobody’s business.

99% of time time outs.. yelling and lecturing.. and rewarding works fine. But in my mind big things that are dangerous and you don’t have a luxury of normal discipline that usually takes a few times before they learn… your safer to put fear into them so they don’t do it again.

Its called communication. When you try to reason with them with language instead of resorting to smacking them you raise a person who trys to reason instead of resorting to violence.

You don't know anything about kids, you probably never will.

What Dano just said is that the children he knows are intimidated by adults they don’t know. This means that he is teaching children to feel that way, and the adults he knows are teaching them the same thing. This is the conservative teachings, and this is the main mindset in this country.

90 percent of children who are sexually abused will be abused by an adult the child knows. Please do not teach your children to be intimidated by “their elders”, or that “their elders” are always right, or that they must “obey their elders”.

This is absolutely the worst thing you can teach any child. If they come into the orbit of a predator, that predator will jump on them. And the child will not tell because he was told not to by his or her “elder”. And that child will not say no, you can’t do that to me, because this child has been taught to not question their “elders”.

I don't think that spanking with a rod or even a belt should be allowed.
