Taco Bell, fuck you.

Mott,

Well, I definitely had no problem with constipation. I got up no fewer than five times throughout the night with the runs, threw up afterward, and then passed out. My roommate found me wallowing in a pool of vomit.

Taco Bell made me lose my dignity. I may be able to forgive, but I sure as hell will never eat their ground beef ever again.

I thought it was the american phone company..... or do they make those terrible cheese portions. Whatever, for these ne'erdo wells it should be Taco Bellend.
We have just been 'blessed' with a Subway!!!! Who, in god's name, needs to go to a shop for a sandwich???
You haven't been to the US have you Low? It's actually pretty difficult to get good, fresh, baked bread in this country unless you make it your self or live next to a specialty baker.

The sad thing about Subway is that they are popular because they bake their bread for the sandwhiches fresh daily....and after you've tried a Subway that will give you an idea of how bad bread is in the USA cause their bread isn't really very good either.

It's a shame that American cuisine is represented around the world by fast food. When people think of American food they think of McD's. Wendy's, Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, etc.

Yet we have regional cuisine that is superb. The SE has it's tradidtion for BBQ pork and south west Tex-Mex food has big bold flavors that most Euros and Asians are not familiar with (to bad, it's great food) and I can promise you that, with the exception of Kobe, that you will never dine on a bettter steak then one raised and fattened in the midwest US. Then you have hearty North Eastern style foods such as been stew, pot roast, chowder, etc. Then theirs west coast cuisine and it's plethora of seasonal produce and vegetables available year round...a cooks paradise.

But the really sad thing....is that were known for cheeseburgers and fries.....and bad ones at that.

BTW, my wife is from SE Asia and she is always home sick for the abundance of fresh sea food there that's simply not available (unless you want to pay very high prices) in the midwestern USA. Having said that....when we vacation in her home country it doesn't take long before we get homesick for good quality beef. The beef in Asia has the taste and texture of shoe leather.

ewwh, cigar smoke a blunt

My friend got me started on cigars at a birthday party last month at Tulalip Casino. I figured, since cigars are the classy way to smoke, I should work on developing a taste for wine, which is the classy way to drink. Women also appreciate men who drink wine. Plus, it will be less of a menace to my belly than beer, which I'm hoping to cut back on a little.

I'm wondering why you are blaming a chain for a one time occurrence rather than the people who worked there for not washing their hands...

....Isn't that why everyone eats Taco Bell?

Actually, kidding aside, I can relate. A few years back I cooked tacos for dinner with tater tots as a side. I was feeling well at dinner time but a few hours later I started coming down with the flu and I spent all night with one end or the other stuck in the toilet. I puked my self empty and the taste of regurgitated tacos is...well....most foul.....I haven't eaten tacos since that day.

Sounds like the reason I no longer drink champagne.

One of the big differences in the local Yat food culture is French Bread, we use them for the famous Poo Boy's. Nawlins is one of the few places I've been who has an abundance of this great bread.
Fried shrimp or sloppy Roast beaf filled is part of our heritage.

It's all over in CO. You should come visit.

Try smoking an Opus X with a glass of port wine after a good steak dinner like a Ribeye in place of dessert. Man, that's living.

Or drink a good cup of dark coffee and a creme brulee. You'll find much the same result of living without the stanky cigar.

Man you can't swing a dead cat by the tail with out hitting a fantastic place to eat in your parts. Hell even the dives have out of this world food. New Orleans region probably has the best food in the nation. If you really, really love good food.....stay the hell away from New Orleans...you'll die young from over indulging.

My parents drink port wine, but I hate it. Right now I am starting off with sweet wines such as the Berringer White Zindafel. I broke open a Mocado d'Asti yesterday, which I don't mind being a sparkling desert white wine, but it turned out it was only 5.5%, so fuck that. Most of my beer selections are stronger than that.

I will try the Opus X. So far I have tried Portagas, Excalibur, and Romeo y Julieta. I am liking the latter cigar quite a bit, but the first two were kind of meh. One of my roommates bought me a cheapo one last night in thanks for giving him a ride home. I will try it this evening, because his cigars are all flavorfull (although somewhat putrid), to see what I think. My three starters are very woodsy and pure tobacco.

I wasn't a wine guy till about 40. Italian red chianti Ruffino is way good and only about $8 bottle.

One of those magazines had Nawlins as the fattest city a couple years ago and was shocked at the interviews. Yat's would rather die a few years early than live without poo boys, Gumbo, Ettouffe, Jambalaya etc. keep your rice cakes and get us more treadmills.

Or Peach flavored wine coolers...

One day about 25 years ago when we used to hit it pretty hard on the weekends, we found a liquor store selling four packs of peach wine coolers for a buck each....6 bucks a case. Naturally, since we drank for effect and not taste back then, we bought 10 cases.

I and many others drank ourselves stupid that night. I then spent the next 15 hours repeatedly vomiting up peach flavored nastiness.

Haven't touched anything peach flavored since.

In honor of this thread, my dinner last night, was the exact same combo meal from Taco Bell. Two baja chalupas and crunchy taco.
I am feeling fine today, no problems whatsoever, normal stool... no stomach ache. I did use the Fire sauce, maybe that's the secret?

I can relate to this story though, my nightmare is the Wendy's here. Now, I absolutely LOVE Wendy's... it's just FAR better than McD's or BK.. and the quality of the food is typically reliable and consistent, but our Wendy's is totally sub par. One night, I had eaten dinner there, and at about 2AM, was puking my guts out.. I chalked it up to a stomach virus. A few weeks later, I ate there again, and once again, found myself hurling my guts out at 2AM. So, I stopped eating there entirely... about a week ago, my boss brought us dinner because we were having to work late on a project, and guess what he brought? Yep... and guess who ate it again? Yep! Fortunately, I dodged the bullet this time, it didn't make me sick, but I still avoid that place at all costs. There is also a Waffle House I refuse to eat at for the same reason.

Try the Partagas again (they are excellent cigars) but smoke it after a meal. They tend to be on the spicey and full bodied side and are best right after a meal. Excalibers and Romeo y Julieta's are far milder then the Partagas and usually of a lower quality. If you like the Excaliber and the Romeo y Julieta then I'd suggest trying a Don Tomas. Their of comparable quality and ussually a buck or two less a stick. A good every day all around smoking cigar with an affordable price. I think you can get Don Tomas from Cigars.com or JRcigars.com for about $3.00 a stick.

If you want to try a good medium bodied cigar that will give you a good idea of where the center is in the cigar world (medium to full bodied flavor and size with excellent construction with a very good draw) then try an Arturo Fuentes Hemingway. It will cost about $10 a stick and is a great all around cigar. A comparable sized opus x...if you can find one, will cost around $17 but the Opus X is full bodied and rich cigar with an oily wrapper that burns very slow and even. Last time I got a full sized Opus X it took two hours to smoke it even the smallest one (which cost about $12/$13) takes about an hour to smoke and because of that oily wrapper they don't get soggy and finish very well right down to the nubbins.
