Tax The Rich Enough To Cover The Deficit.

Hello CookieCrusher,

This topic has been discussed numerous times by political "experts", and the CBO has chimed in on it and stated their findings. Go read.
Stop pretending like your some reasonable leftist who want what's best for America.......lol

Why are you even talking about me? I am not the subject. Have you come here simply to voice prejudices and talk about other people? I am asking if you have any ideas on the subject. You're doing little more than talking about other people.

Great minds discuss ideas.

Average minds discuss current events.

Simple minds discuss other people.

You brought up the CBO. Why don't you tell us what you glean from the CBO and post a link.

Hello cawacko,

After reading your article I was actually going to give Trump credit for attempting to address the issue. After reading this article I give him far less credit. Not to mention none of this it seems was actually passed in the bill he signed and he clearly didn't fight for it.

Thanks for a different perspective.

Trump is notorious for beginning bargaining by asking for more than he really wants and then 'compromising' back to what he really wanted in the first place, in order to get everything he really wanted without making any concessions. He doesn't bargain in good faith. He bargains with contempt.

Hello Celticguy,

Thanks for your view but I disagree.

It is only expected that spending will rise for expanding government. Government needs to expand to deal with all the issues facing the modern country. We simply cannot run a country in 2019 with the government of 1776. This is a great country. We have a lot of modern things to deal with. Our government provides many services and benefits which did not exist long ago. That all costs money. It's worth it. This is a great country. You can't have a great country if you are cheap. The idea that we can cut spending to balance the budget is a wrong idea. We have a lot of people getting fabulously rich in our great country. It is not too much to ask them to pay for our great government. The poor sure can't do it.

I did not expect you to agree.
The government does many things that are unnecessary as well as things there is no Constitution basis for. What made the country great to begin with was allowing entrepreneurs to find a need, supply it and prosper. Then people like Lincoln sold people on canals and rail to expand opportunity which never generated the growth promised but enriched his friends. This sort of thing is how all too many rich get that wsy now. Look at how Obama's friends drove income disperity. And yes, gop did it too.
Cut that out and solve many problems.

Hello Celticguy,

The best way to do health care is to have a National Health Service. People would serve just like people serve in the military. And we could identify a need for workers where there are too few, train them in government schools and offer them a good living serving the United States. People who serve their country are dedicated to their work. There is no reason anybody should be getting rich from the misery of those who are sick or injured. That is despicable at the outset.

The USSR tried exactly what you suggest. People went without care because of the waits. There was no incentive to see more patients so they did not. The rate was the same.
Profit motive works. Always has, always will.

SS can only pay what they take in. They are not permitted to get shortages from the treasury. It was founded that way. If they are short, they cut the checks down. So no, it does not cause deficits.
What causes a huge part is the endless tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations. Another is our ridiculous military budget. We spend more than the next 10 nations combined and have done so for many decades.

Fool; SS pays out more than it takes in. They forcefully take your money, then LOAN it to the treasury taking treasury bonds in return as investments. Then the Government TAXES us to pay the interest on those loans and the deficits they run up.

When you die, if you are single, no more payments. If you are married, your spouse will get 1/3 of that amount. Don't die at the beginning of the month either. You forfeit all payments no matter when you die. Die at the end of the month.

Only pure, unadulterated idiots can support a ponzi scheme like this.

"Great minds".....
Don't flatter yourself......

Run the numbers for us, and show us how that would be possible without crashing the economy. Raising taxes on the rich wouldn't necessarily raise revenues to federal coffers, as history has shown. It's the spending that needs to be addressed. But evidently, neither side has any interest in doing that.

More GOP voodoo trickle down economics, isn't go to fix anything.

what incentive to people have to spend reasonably when they don't have to participate in the costs?

your ideas are completely unworkable.

If raising taxes on the rich wouldn't necessarily raise revenues to federal coffers, then cutting taxes for the rich will reduce revenues to federal coffers.

This is either another Anatta or IntoTheNight ID.

Yes they paid something, about the same as they did before. The money spent was borrowed beyond what increase came from the expanding economy.

Tax cuts did not expand the economy.

If you alter taxes so that the ratio changes they WILL leave

No they won't.

Just like the English did when they tried it there.

That was back when England was part of the EU and had its people had freedom of movement.

Revenues are up post tax cuts.

No they're not. Revenues for 2018 were below revenues for 2017. Here's the Treasury data that proves it.

You're a liar. Maybe try a new ID next time.

The deficit is as well because spending is up.

What spending?

We dont gave a taxing problem, we have a spending problem.

When taxes were cut, deficits appeared. When taxes are raised, deficits disappear.

Kansas cut taxes in 2012, and deficits appeared. Kansas then ended those tax cuts in 2017, and magically, surpluses appeared.

Here's the proof:

If raising taxes on the rich wouldn't necessarily raise revenues to federal coffers, then cutting taxes for the rich will reduce revenues to federal coffers.

Once more for the losers on the left; we don't have a revenue problem. We have a SPENDING problem. I do wish you had a brain.

Conservative tax cuts never produce more revenues.

They never result in lower deficits.

They never result in better economic growth.

All tax cuts do is create deficits that Conservatives then use as an excuse to cut the spending they are ideologically opposed to, but lack the courage, will, and support to repeal through conventional legislation.

You declare jihad on the budget, fly planes of tax cuts into it, then cry crocodile tears at the disastrous deficit that remains.

It's amazing that even after 40 years of data showing that every time taxes are cut, deficits appear, personal savings declines, and household debt increases, Conservatives are still married to their dogma.

It's because Conservatism is not a political ideology, but a cult. Its adherents are dumb people who are easily conned because of how weak their minds are. After all, it takes a real stupid fucking moron to get conned into voting and supporting Donald Trump.

Conservative tax cuts never produce more revenues.

LIAR; every tax cut ever passed resulted in higher revenues. It is SPENDING that far exceeds revenues that is the problem. You're a willful idiot.

They never result in lower deficits.

No one ever said they do you dishonest dumb fuck. But cutting spending does. Grow a brain.

They never result in better economic growth.

That is a lie. Why are you so stupid and dishonest? Nothing screams moron more than someone wanting to give the Government more of our wealth.

All tax cuts do is create deficits that Conservatives then use as an excuse to cut the spending they are ideologically opposed to, but lack the courage, will, and support to repeal through conventional legislation.

LIE, LAME and STUPID. Spending MORE than the Government takes in causes deficits you clueless moron.

You declare jihad on the budget, fly planes of tax cuts into it, then cry crocodile tears at the disastrous deficit that remains.

Strawman.

Absurdity; a sure sign of the last desperate refuge for liars, fools and ignorance; and those who have lost their arguments. Yay you!
