How times have changed. This was an outrageously funny and scathing indictment against racism, sung by Millicent Martin in the Sixties. She, of course, is better known in the US as Daphne's mother in Frasier.

Now of course, it would be condemned for using taboo lyrics and blackface!!

No! I didn't imply that at all.

Donald Trump speaks in an emotional or affective way to large numbers of people in our country who feel a kind of alienation or disconnection from the government. His followers feel very responded to and become his political base.

Cult followers like those in the Manson family are so seduced by feelings of acceptance and understanding that they accept their leaders’ ideologies regardless of how destructive or dangerous they may be.

Cult leaders may say things like, “Your parents don’t really care about you. Your community doesn’t care about you. The government doesn’t really care about you, but I’m going to not only care about you, I’m going to take care of you. I understand how angry, neglected, and hurt you feel.”

I’ve never worried as much about the Donald Trumps in the world as I worry about the large amount of people in our country who feel alienated and disconnected and looking to follow somebody.

We live in a time where the potential for adolescents to become very isolated and disconnected from their families, from their schools, and from their communities. As citizens of our communities, it’s our job to recognize and respond to when we see that happening.

So, even though their crimes may be different, Donald Trump and the late Charles Manson were successful cult leaders who were able to manipulate others into doing bad things while manipulating their thoughts and emotions.

Two in the same- just as I called it!

A Jehovahs Witness knocked on my door last night.

I asked him in, sat him down and said, "right,' what do you want to talk about?"

My youngest son....in his teens asked the question, "How did you first meet mom?"

I replied.....You know your mother was going through a nasty divorce when I first encountered her standing outside her place of employment....wiping tears from her eyes? Well......I walked up and straight away asked her out while attempting to comfort her distraught condition. She replied, "I can't go out with you....my divorce is not final and my X is just looking for anything to present in court."

I looked her straight in the eye and said, "I have a goldfish....now will you go out with me?" A puzzled look came on her face as she looked me up and down trying to figure out if I was mentally challenged or just plain crazy. A big grin come across her face flushed with a little red (probably anger)….."What in the hell does a gold fish have to do with you asking me out?"


I said, "Oh...excuse me......I assumed we were talking about SHIT that did not really matter." ;)

I always thought Jerrys show was being kinda blind to the offensive takes the characters had


I thought is was part of what made the characters who were assholes and they aimed for that in the show with the writing


Its turns out he was actually blind to it as a writer
