If everything is so peachy, and the economy is the most important thing in the world to gauge that by, (the greedy rich will tell you this,) and we have a president who is given the credit for this amazing achievement, (whether deserved or not,) then why can this president not even manage to get half of the people to like him?

It is well known that even of the people who approve of his job performance, many say they don't like him.

Any other president who has an economy like this would be polling at 70%.

Most of the president's supporters that I talk to freely admit they don't like him, but they still have their reasons to continue to support him. They say he is not a nice person, but they vote for him anyway. I guess they think we need a mean president. The party has slid quite a bit since being the 'kinder gentler' administration. That actually doesn't sound so bad now...

Your problem is you don't understand the presidency is not a popularity contest. People should vote for the most qualified candidate regardless of how nice or not the person seems. As a person I dislike Trump but as president he is the best choice.

The tRump supporters that I talk to say the same exact thing. Without exception, they simply wish he would STFU.

He is an ignorant, classless, low-self-esteem boor. Nobody, include Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham, was a lesser choice. Everyone who has run in the Democratic Party primary...included all who have dropped out...is/was/were better choices.
 
Even Kellyanne Conway referred to trump as a buffoon back when she worked for Cruz.
Basically, Eagle just explained why he voted the very way he claimed that people shouldn't vote......)

OK, something funny is going on here. We are talking to DT supporters and both of us are getting the same thing. The supporters don't like that he tweets so much, but somehow, they seem to respond to it, because it is working for him and he is not losing support over it.

Apparently DT is working on their weaker side that they don't wish to admit.

They really do respond to the hateful tweets, but they don't want to admit it.

I am thinking DT fans are ashamed of themselves for supporting him.

They like the results, but they don't like the method. so they just look the other way.

How untrue to their own convictions can they be?

He is playing up to their weaker side and taking advantage of them through it.

The only way their politics works is by violating their morals.

Logically, we can conclude that their politics is thus flawed in this way.

They cannot achieve their desired social condition without violating their own principles, and in effect, lying to themselves.

That explains why they are so touchy about it. (It also explains why, as a polite person who insists on polite discussion, I am able to find so few fans of DT who can carry on an online conversation here without blowing up and lashing out with an outburst of insults for me which results in me justifiably placing them on permanent ignore...)

Most fans of DT can't talk about it without getting angry. Can't face reasonable scrutiny.

I know some of DT's supporters personally. Good friends and relatives. Most of them refuse to have an honest conversation accounting for his actions. They are ashamed to be supporters, when the bait is cut and dried.

Now just wait and see. I bet this post gets some groans (which I consider badges of honor). You come right out and say what people are avoiding, refuse to say, don't want said? If people are fooling themselves and that action is voiced out loud? Makes 'em go bonkers. Who wants said what they refuse to admit to themselves? That's no fun. Honesty is the last thing someone who is fooling himself wants. The president has them all conned and they would be ashamed to admit it.

I wish I could agree. I don't think it is quite so simple. The reality is that there are mature and immature people on both sides. Mature people do not hate somebody because they believe differently. Immature people are not wise enough to avoid falling for that trap.

We wish it weren't true but we can't escape it.

It's in our face every day.

No wonder the nation is so torn up.

The rich proponents of the Class War are in gleeful denial that they are winning.

The financially struggling are wondering why, if the economy is so good, they still can't make ends meet.

And everybody is angry at one another over it.

My, this is how poor leadership looks.
