If you read the article carefully, and I concede that the headline preconditions the reader not to see what is there only subtly, the risk for those already vulnerable is raised, but those people only constitute approximately 1% of the overall population.
This is something that we've known for decades; I find it interesting that it has made the news now. e.g. "People whose families have a history of schizophrenia ..." Then how does one partition the biological vulnerability from the fact that the first psychotic episode is most likely to occur during the late teens/early twenties, which interestingly is also likely to coincide with initial marijuana use. That latter may occur earlier and precipitate an episode, as well, but the title of the article was misleading.
