We are witnessing the logical culmination of win-at-any-cost Trump Republican politics – scorched-earth tactics used by Republicans to entrench their power, with no justification other than that they can.

Democracy is about means. Under it, citizens don’t have to agree on ends (abortion, healthcare, guns or whatever else we disagree about) as long as we agree on democratic means for handling our disagreements.

But for Trump Republicans, the ends justify whatever means they choose – including expelling lawmakers, rigging elections through gerrymandering, refusing to raise the debt ceiling and denying the outcome of a legitimate presidential election.

Yes, yes, yes ... the modern Republican party is rushing to join the Democrat party in forming the tyrannical Uniparty that no longer needs to compete with anyone or answer to any electorate. The Democrats already have several fascist programs in place.

What a fucking stupid comment. Democrats are not burning books, telling teachers what to teach our children, professing that we can't tolerate some people because of their sexuality or telling women what they can or cannot do with their bodies. If this country ever turns toward socialism it will be because the right fucks up this country so horribly that the masses finally say they have had enough. A purely capitalistic country always fails and usually turns toward socialism when the haves decide to tell the have nots to get lost. just what republicans profess.

My only quibble with your post here is the use of the words "hurtling towards." IMO they've opened the fascism door and stepped right over the threshold. Can the burning of books and the arrest of journalists, dissidents, and non-Xtian non-white ppl be far behind?
