The real reason Trump is destroying the economy

There Can be Only One!

it’s probably more accurate to see Trump’s tariffs as a symptom of democratic decay — of America transitioning into a kind of strange hybrid system that combines both authoritarian and democratic features.

It's just trump trying to cow the world by showing everyone what a "tough guy" he is. My sense is that as soon as Wall Street gets fed up - and that's not long in coming, that trump will back off on the tariffs and "claim victory" by lying that "the world is behaving now because of him".

I mean this is the guy that went bankrupt in the casino business! He's a great marketer and demigod, but he can't run anything successfully.

Trump will probably cave and declare victory the minute a country makes an insignificant and inconsequential concession

Trump is using the p[power of the presidency to threaten everybody who has power. He got all the billionaires to go to his inauguration. He is threatening all the powerful legal firms in America demanding loyalty to him. They are signing up. His tariffs are hurting nations and businesses. He can give relief to you, but not for free. He wants payoffs and vowed loyalty. The tariffed countries are getting the same offers. Tarioffs are an economic weapon for Trump to get him more money and power.

The question is will he " Back off " before he does reprehensible damage.
The price of things has already gone up the DOW is crashing, How long is it going to be before he Backs off?

That’s how he is able to do it, not why.

Trump is trying to save the economy which has long been a wreck, but most of my grapevine dont think he knows what he is doing, and blowing up globalism while a worthy endeavor needs to be done Constitutionally which this is not. But we must remember that Trump is not the first to do it, their were broad complaints that FDR did not act in a Constitutional matter.

fuck you and your weak sauce.

it will never happen if you put in into analysis paralysis.

just saying.

Lots of chatter on my grapevine currently that Trump seems to not understand how tariffs work in 2025, that Trump broadly does not understand how the world works, and that he tryong to be McKinley will end in disaster.

First...I've been saying that he will force the Fed to lower interest rates when we sink into a depression. He's leveraged to the max, so it helps him and his billionaire donors when rates come down.

I heard another theory on Public Radio the other day. I might have read a piece here too.

If you study the USSR, the same exact thing was done. The economy was purposely crashed and most services were now provided by the private sector. (sound familiar?) Then, cronies (sound familiar?) got the contracts for virtually all of the necessary goods/services and oligarchs were born.

I have now heard three people on my grapevine say some version of "Looking at this it is clear to me that Trump is motivated by the desire to improve America through improving its economy, but I question/doubt that he knows what he is doing".
