The Silurian hypothesis

All these claims should be something like "This is the current best guess, we might very well have a different guess around next week".
Graham Hancock has the 2nd highest rated show on Netflix that focuses on evidence of lost civilizations that's worth binging on.

My problem is that all too often it seems when we get "This is what happened, we know, we are the experts" in reality they just took a guess at what happened in order to create a narrative because they wanted to look like they provide value to our lives.

Given the lengths of time involved, it's difficult to be certain about the history of advanced life on our own planet much less that of exoplanets.

We have been studying the fossil record and archeology for at least 200 years, and while there is still much to learn , I don't expect any massively huge shocks - like finding complex multicellular life lived two billion years ago, or ape fossils in the Paleozoic. I think we have the basic outline of life's history dialed in, if not the details.

The best chance might be finding such signs on the Moon, Mars, Venus or in solar orbit.

Venus used to be in the habitable zone:
But four and a half billion years ago, our sun was different. It was smaller and dimmer. As stars like our sun age, they steadily grow brighter. So back then Venus was firmly planted in the habitable zone, the region of the solar system that can support liquid water on the surface of a planet without it being too hot or too cold.

Good stuff.

Venus also doesn't seem to have plate tectonics and an active geologic surface, which seems to be a requirement for sustaining life.

The ocean moons of our solar system seem to be the most likely places we could find microbial life.

Agreed about plate tectonics. "Shake'n'bake"? Our Moon seems to have been an influence on the "shake'n'bake" theory. The gas giants the ocean moons orbit would have the same "shake'n'bake" effect.

Bro, I'm talking to you, why would I need Damo? He doesn't care about all your 12b violations, so why would he care if you post conspiracy theories in ethics?
Ask him. If he doesn't care then why do you care about this thread so much, CO/goat? Is your OCD kicking in? Bored because you lost your TV privileges?

Philosophy and ethics is my forte, so I don't like seeing it bastardized by your ignorance and arrogance.

Not psychology anymore? Interesting.

Then put me on ignore and have a blessed day.
Psychology is part of philosophy. I can show you solid evidence of lost civilizations from 24,000 or maybe even 56'000 years ago, but you'd deem them conspiracy theories.

You're well known for your conspiracy theories and derailing threads, CO/goat. Why don't you start a thread about your theories?

The Johan Heine Stone Calendar (Adam's Calendar) in South Africa is said to be at least 75,000 years old.

Research and discoveries over the past twenty years or so have revealed that these ancient stone structures are most likely more than 75,000 years old, with some researchers suggesting they could be as old as 200,000 years. Moreover, researchers have concluded that the ruins are not merely those of village-like settlements, but are the remains of astronomical observatories and ancient religious temples.

Druids had similar tech. It's not that hard.

Science claim every ancient structure is an astronomical observatory or religious temple, yet I'm always fascinated when they're aligned north, south, east and west.
The Zodiac and the Sun move East to West. It's easy to figure cardinal directions using a stick and its shadow. Once calculated, the directions can be "set in stone". It's amazing what people can figure out when they don't have television, books or a smartphone to distract them.

That was done by humans. We didn't need extraterrestrials to show us how to make a calendar. You started another interesting thread but put it in the wrong forum. When we going to meet for a few beers?

Exactly my point. Just because you find a 200,000 year old calendar doesn't mean it was made by space aliens.

When I can trust you. So far I suspect you are a criminal psychotic so it will be a while.

If an industrial civilization had existed on Earth many millions of years prior to our own era, what traces would it have left and would they be detectable today? We summarize the likely geological fingerprint of the Anthropocene, and demonstrate that while clear, it will not differ greatly in many respects from other known events in the geological record. We then propose tests that could plausibly distinguish an industrial cause from an otherwise naturally occurring climate event.

Metal alloys, plastics, machinery, buildings, among other things. If there were such a civilization, there'd be evidence.
