So you don't agree that the South is filled with poverty and racism?
I don't know how you defined filled but there is poverty and racism all across America. The South doesn't have a monopoly on it.

We have tax cuts and many things being done like getting out of Obama's useless iran deal and we have Nk ready to go to a peace summit. We have lowest Black unemployment in history

Most southern states are the poorest in the nation. But you know that. You're just arguing to be arguing.

correlation between that and low educational levels and rabid christer fundamentalism in those places
We would like to lift them up out of the mire of poverty, racism, and Duck Dynasty that they've so long suffered, and welcome them back to the folds of humanity.

California has the highest poverty rate in the country. Boston is the most racist city. The history of the South is out there for all to see but it does not have a monopoly on racism and poverty.
No one has claimed that here, right?
I would like to see *all* of our citizens --*all* of our states -- become prosperous, educated, healthy. The original discussion is about the South turning away from the failed politics of the (R)s and looking to a brighter future with the (D)s. I'm all for that. It's pretty obvious that an (R) hegemony has not been beneficial to them.

You didn't say the word monopoly but you made no reference to other parts of the country where poverty and racism flourish. Boston is one of the most educated cities in the country yet its the most racist.
Check out the Governorships and state legislatures of many of the Southern states. They have not been in Republican control for all that long. There is a looong history of Democratic rule there.
Ah, the tried and false "Democrats are racist and Klan members" canard. Fail.
George Wallace was a (D). He was also a world-class racist. When (D) Presidents forcibly integrated Southern schools, and Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Southern Dems deserted the party and fled into the willing arms of the (R)s... who were and remain just as racist as the former (D)s, if not even more so. And that is where the South has remained for almost five decades now.
One thing that made the (R)s more attractive over time to those folks.... their switch from supporters of publicly-funded science, technology, and higher education (esp. in the STEM fields) to what you see in that party today. Spiro Agnewesque slurs against the "elites". Attacks on universities as "liberal nests". The cozying up to Xtian evangelicals who want the Bible, prayers, and their religion as part of public school daily life.
