Thousands of fired federal workers must be rehired immediately, judge rules

The DOE is the Department of Energy. I have to question your expertise in ED, if you do not even know their abbreviation.

The ED has 4,200 employees for about 70 million students. That would be about one employee for 17,000 students. That does not seem like a lot of overhead to me.

I do not know that we have to "clean house", but I am not automatically opposed to it. I am automatically opposed to random firing without any thinking. It is inefficient, and destructive.

I have been on both sides of random firing, and I do know what I am speaking about.
As long as you do what I meant that's all that matters... And you did...;) Hopefully , we don't have to worry about any letters that represent the department of education for too much longer... My experience with them was thirty years... So while I may be no expert I know that they never did anything for us.... But take time away From us that we needed to actually teach... Which
is kind of necessary when you're teaching... I believe I said that the reduction in jobs could have been done more efficiently , but it needs to be done... one hundred percent... Especially in education...

Morning, TOP.

These far left loons are opposing what the American people elected him to do…everything.

Can you imagine what he could accomplish if they did not oppose… everything that the American people elected him to do?

Things would be accomplished in a lot less time so that's on them... I'm patient and it's going to be worth the wait... I am seriously... so seriously ...Excited about changes that are gonna be happening to our schools...

My experience with them was thirty years...
A while ago back, you were claiming that you were a teacher. A real teacher would not be dealing with the ED. There are too many teachers, and too few ED employees for the two groups to interact much. It would be like my local postal employee claiming to have thirty years of experience with White House.

But take time away From us that we needed to actually teach.
Again, teachers outnumber ED employees a thousand to one. So if you are taking any time away from students to deal with them, they are taking a thousand times as much time to deal with you. Do you see where your claims fall apart?

I believe I said that the reduction in jobs could have been done more efficiently , but it needs to be done... one hundred percent... Especially in education...
So you believe 4,200 ED employees is way too many? Just a reminder, we are a country of 340 million people.

You would be wrong.... Who's "in charge " of special education? Every federal evaluation ...every meeting with federal employees just confirmed that they were clueless about what was happening In school systems and classrooms... People making judgments who most of the time had never even had classroom experience.... Is particularly special education classroom experience.... Too many people... And too many unqualified people....

Are all of those 340 million people in school, Rarely Right Walter?

Many are in diapers.

Rarely Right Walter is rarely right, TOP.

That's why I call him "Rarely Right Walter."

every meeting with federal employees
One more time... There are 4,200 ED employees. There are 3.8 million public school teachers. Can you see the problem with your claims that teachers are spending a lot of time meeting with ED employees? Let's say every ED employee spends 20 hours a week meeting with teachers, the average teacher would spend little over an hour a year meeting with ED employees...

Your claims are mathematically impossible. ED employees do not have the time to take control of individual students, or even individual teachers. There are almost 100,000 public schools in the USA, so they do not even have the time to care about individual schools.

People making judgments who most of the time had never even had classroom experience....
Almost everyone in modern society has had some sort of classroom experience. It is odd that you do not know that.

Are all of those 340 million people in school
70 million of them are. So you have 4,200 ED employees to supposedly manage 70 million people... The fact is there are too few ED employees to do much.

I just do not even know where to begin with these fantasies of Top's. She claims 3.8 million teachers cannot teach because they have to have constant meetings with 4,200 ED employees... Am I the only one who sees that the math of that just does not work?

It is like claiming that privates in the army have to spend too much time talking to the president.

I never said they were spending a lot of time...I said we met with them...they make the policies, though, and are unqualified to do so...How much experience have you had teaching in a special education classroom...most of them had zero...

70 million of them are.

Do you lack the ability to read?

There are about 70 million students in the USA. About 50 million are in public primary and secondary schools, and about 20 million are in colleges and universities. There are a smattering of others in some sort of job training or other program connected to ED. And of course there are 3.8 million public school teachers. We are not even touching on the other public school employees, the university employees, and all the rest.

And 4,200 total employees in ED.

I never said they were spending a lot of time...I said we met with them...they make the policies, though, and are unqualified to do so...How much experience have you had teaching in a special education classroom...most of them had zero...
The reality is that a school teacher might see a federal employee give a speech at a conference or something, but will not spend any time actually meeting them. Watching an expert speak on a subject for 30 minutes is not taking time away from teaching, but rather helping a good teacher be a better teacher.

Every school system ...every classroom. every teacher....Every student is a unique situation... The federal government shouldn't be mandating anything..

That is
Untrue.... You're obviously very unfamiliar with special education... And we absolutely met with federal evaluators.... You misunderstand what I said about taking away time from being able to teach... No one is talking about a thirty minute lecture...

And we absolutely met with federal evaluators
So it is not just ED employees, but a specific subset of them. Let's say 10% of ED is "evaluators" that would be 420. There are about 100,000 schools, so if they traveled to 200 schools a year (one per day, spending a few days on other things), that would mean that one would visit your school every year or so.

Each teacher would spend a few minutes per year meeting with them. That is hardly enough time to bring up individual students.

The math just does not work.

So let me paint you a more realistic picture. Students take tests, and the aggregate numbers for entire school districts goes to ED. Teachers talk to school and district administrators, who file reports with ED. If the test numbers are interesting, someone at ED might read those reports, but given how few employees they have, probably not. There are competitive grants, but again given how few employees ED has, they can barely manage them.

So basically, what you are saying (and agreeing with me), is that the Department of Education isn't really necessary...they can't
be effective...that things would be much better handled at the state level...and ideally, the local level...
Meeting once a year is enough to remind us that they should Not be in charge....

It's getting more difficult to get great teachers these days... It's getting more difficult to keep great teachers these days. And it's not because of the students , it's because of the adults...

No mention of 70 million til I asked about the 340 million, Rarely Right Walter.

Rarely Right Walter, I do understand your embarrassment when caught with the 340 million figure when it’s only 70 million (your own figure) actually in school.

It’s tough for you to admit when you are wrong.

I feel your pain, Rarely Right Walter…really.
