Time To Dump The Second Amendment?

Hello Flash,

And CA has those laws now even with the current interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. Changing or eliminating the 2nd does not change the freedom of states to pass their own laws.

Some of the red states with higher gun deaths have fewer total homicides (ND, WYO).

Those states have no large cities.

Hello Flash,

Agreed. So homicide rate has more to do with demographics than gun laws.

Comparing the gun death situation in those states to states with large cities is apples to oranges.

Look at the whole nation colored accoring to gun deaths per 100K. It looks like a political map. The Republican States have more death.

Gun Deaths Per 100,000, by State

Clearly, Democrat gun laws produce a safer society.

The blue states have a higher urban percentage of the population than red states. The U. S. average is 80% and more red states are below and more blue states above that average. CA=95%/SC=66%.

It is always more complex than attributing homicides to a single factor such as gun laws.

That is common in the real world there are few absolutes. And this is no exception. Many factors are in play. But the data are highly suggestive that stricter gun laws result in fewer gun deaths. And that only makes sense. It is what would be expected.

Unless the state has a big city(ies)?

CA, IL, and MD all have a lot of gun control and have big cities. Gun related homicides per 100,000: CA=3.5; IL 6.5; MD=7.4

NH, ME, and VT are all gun friendly states. NH=.09; ME=.08; VT=1.3. DE is not gun friendly. VT=5.1

MT and WY are both gun friendly states. WY=2.1; MT=2.0

I'm not trying to argue more guns is better, only that more gun control laws do not predict less gun related homicides. Other demographic factors are more important. Southern states which are more gun friendly and have higher homicide rates also have a higher assault and violent crime rate.

The cited states with more gun freedom and low gun deaths per 100K have no large cities.

The States that do have large cities and also have stricter gun control laws have fewer deaths per 100K than States with large cities and less strict gun control laws.

The obvious conclusion to be drawn is that States with large cities require more strict gun control laws in order to be safer and have fewer gun deaths.

NH, VT, and ME have no large cities. MD does.

Also affecting this phenomenon is the proximity of the large cities to other states which have lax gun safety laws. Think of the proximity of Chicago to Indiana.

DE is not a very large state. It cannot control the laws more than a small number of miles from Baltimore.

Simple answer: 2A was written before the time of ARs and Nukes. I'm thinking I should have a nuke.. just for protection and to pose with on Michigan Capitol steps.

2A was written in muzzle loader era. According to your logic it should have been done away with when repeating rifles were invented.

Hello Sawyerloggingon,

Projection.

One person saying something does not mean an entire group they might be included in has said it.

Time after time I find no matter how much evidence or how many facts I present to a liberal they refuse to acknowledge reality. In fact it only serves to anger them.

Yeah, I thought it was a she. Annoying.
Anyway, she's as far left as they come.
Her ideas would collapse this country.

Funnier yet, is the TDS Disease. Complete
captivation. Like they are possessed.

Most women are lefties. Why is that a surprise to you?

Hello Sawyerloggingon,

Said as if all liberals are the same - an incorrect assumption.

Such an assumption is a basic mistake which leads to a lack of understanding.

Just think of it. When conversing with conservatives, it is obvious that they are not all the same at all. Liberals, then, are equally likely to have great differences in views and composure.

Assuming that all people in a group act the same is an example of prejudice. A mistake which can lead to clouded judgement.

The fact of the matter is that Americans are free to have individual views which they do across both the left and the right across the political spectrum.

and you changed the subject to some abstract discussion of different views.

typical liberal bullshit.
