Top al-Qaida leaders killed in Iraq, US says

I quick sum-up of Yurt's contribution since joining JPP: "thanks for admitting I was right"/"thanks for proving I was right," "nothing but ad homs from you, you moron," "the media did this to Bush but not to Obama," "hypocrite, hypocrite, hypocrite."

"yawn"

wow, that is such a contribution to this thread...i'm trying to think of any contribution you've offered JPP, but i can't think of any except hypocritical whining and outright lying and projection....

are you claiming that wikileaks leak of this video contributed nothing to increased enrollment and attacks....you specifically pointed to the video as an example....

the video, without a doubt, increased knowledge and thus anger of what took place and the edited version seen round the world, was wholly inaccurate and the media often inaccurately portrayed it....to hold wikileak blameless is the height of stupidity

Um, I think the Iraqi people are fully aware when their friends, neighbors and children get blown to shit without the people of Wikileaks posting videos.

I also think it is hilarious that you claim that the video was "wholly inaccurate" when you have absolutely no idea what was or was not (if it was or was not) edited out. Christ, even the fucking Pentagon has no idea since it cannot locate its copy, except it does indeed acknowledge that the video is genuine.

And, yes, I do hold Wikileaks blameless. If Pentagon officials didn't lie through their fucking teeth about the incident and admitted that people, including 2 journalists, were accidentally killed the whole affair would have blown over instead of being what it is now.

you're not being realistic. i don't even know what happens to my neighbors in a town of less than 70,000....unless i see it on the news. it is highly that many knew what happened. regardless, many more, non iraqis now know what happened. it is the height of ignorance to believe AQ members only come from iraqis, if you had any rational understanding, you would know that most AQ members coming to iraq are non iraqis. and they would not have know about this incident, but for the video. to claim otherwise is pure silliness.

the video edited made it seem as if it was a joy kill....it clear now that some of the people with the apparent journalist were in fact armed. if you're walking around in a war zone, there are risks. i don't know if what happened was within the bounds of proper war or not, but there is no doubt that video spawned hatred of the US military and the belief that the entire incident was a war crime....

to hold wikileaks blameless is unreasonable, nothing was gained by the release of this video except more hatred and as you said, more recruitment and attacks from AQ.

I'd think you know what happened in your town if the Iraqi military was firing at civilians from Apache helicopters killing some journalists and injuring children.

Again, you're being ridiculous. When the "war zone" is your neighborhood and military weapons are "lost" by the hundreds of thousands by the "good guys,"
carrying an AK-47 is not something that should justify an Apache helicopter opening up on everyone around the person carrying the AK. Let's get real here.

And, I'd add, the response from the Pentagon to the incident was that the soldiers were acting according to the rules of engagement. If the rules of engagement justify what occurred in the video then the rules of engagement are fucked and the Iraqis are entirely justified in hating the US military. How would you feel if it was your neighborhood?

Wikileaks left out parts of what had really happened for propaganda purposes. That is a fact. Anything to diss our troops.

It's quite clever of you to twist my words to suit your needs, but you should really try not to be such a fucking liawyer.

piss off nigel, i'm not being anything other than an anonymous internet poster showing you what you actually said....you're just losing your cool and once again showing you're nothing but a coward for bringing up my profession while cowardly refusing to say what you do. and you've also criticized othes for bringing up this kind of info, yet you do so again.

fact is, you specifically pointed to the video as increasing enrollment and attacks. but for the release of the video, far less people would have known about the event. that is a fact. and you're wrong about what iraqis would know, you have no clue what they know or do not know and again AQ is mostly NON IRAQIS....so it is absolutely fucking pointless to keep on about what "neighbors" know when compared to the millions who now know because of the wikileaks video.

I edited the post. You are correct.
