trump blames low-income people, minorities for 'ruining' suburbia

Wow, based on Althea’s definition of NIMBY I feel like we live in two different countries. I guess it’s possible someone living in the country could be oblivious to the NIMBYism that dominates certain large cities/metros.

That much more likely is that this person is lying.

This is sadly were we are now.

Monday, Sunday, Saturday and Friday weren't enough to satisfy you?......

That's nice, when it counted on the debate stage he failed, he told them to standby........ I bet hitler told his boys in the brown shirts to do the same once or twice.......

trump does not seem to be able to escape this problem.....

For some reason he needs to just keep repeating it~ & for good reason............

Now stand down & standby.......................

Which side are you on?? You inviting a section 8 unit to be built next door??

No, I would not want section 8 housing built next to my million dollar home. But if I lived in the suburbs I would not have a problem with duplexes or triplexes being built in my neighborhood or even multi-family if it’s near transit. So I support the development of new housing because in California (and places like Seattle) we have a severe supply problem along with zoning issues for areas that should allow high density.

That’s not what NIMBYism is about though. They aren’t trying to put Section 8 housing in better off suburbs. They are trying to put duplexes, triplexes and multi-family developments there though and NIMBYs fight against them. That’s the issue. Trump uses racial racial dig whistles in fighting against it. The left uses different lingo but ultimately they’re fighting for the same thing.

What is the purpose of section 8 housing??

What is the premise-the basis/reason to put them in the burbs, or in your neighborhood??

The ppl using section 8 would like to live in the best place possible, who wouldn't??

It isn't them planning, purchasing etc...

If the city can build or buy a unit for that purpose & house 20 or 100, which is more beneficial to the ppl hoping to have a place using section 8??

Clearly you aren't familiar with the NIMBYism, that to many is like a religion, in large coastal areas.

Is that supposed to be anything like Q-Anon, and their conspiracy ideology so many righties, and trump, support?

Leftists don't say it's in the name of keeping neighborhoods white, thus why I commented they don't use the racial rhetoric Trump does. But what they do is block new development, especially any non-single family homes, in the name of neighborhood character etc. It's why the whole progressive YIMBY movement started. If you aren't familiar with it research it.

No, since you were stupid enough to act as if it were true then it is up to you to prove it. Otherwise it is just another damned lie from the right wing racists.

Are you fucking retarded?

You are acting as if only big cities have felt the influence of population growth. Being a country boy myself I find self segregation to be the greater cause for alarm, if any:

And this is just one of three being built in my little town of less then 5,000:

What has ruined suburbia and the cities to which have become a reverse form of that so-called suburbia flight when it comes to his $3 trillion deficit the the atrocity of his and his so-called republicans unleashing the affects of the coronavirus on society that murdered over 200,000 Americans and caused over 7 million infections in terms of the economic impact it caused, etc.

both you and cawhacko are ignoring the voucher system which helps low income people have an equal shot at available housing..........section 8 will not solve California's problem because there isn't enough housing for people who HAVE money......

Hello Bill,

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump refused to condemn white supremacists. On Wednesday, he appeared to blame suburban, low-income people of color for “ruining this American dream.”

snip>

“By the way, just so we can get this straight, 30 percent of the people in the suburbs are low-income people. Thirty percent of the people in the suburbs are minorities. And so we’re ruining this American dream for everybody,” Trump said.

"They zone you out, they build low-income housing next to your house," Trump continued. "And then I hear I'm not doing well in the suburbs. I'm not doing well in the suburbs — are you people crazy?

More trump hate @ source

OP link:

"I hear I'm not doing well in the suburbs."

Of course it's all about HIM.

Well, I don't think race-baiting is going to help.

Forget I said Section 8. I was just being honest in saying that if I lived in some fancy multi-million dollar home in the suburbs I wouldn't probably wouldn't be thrilled if a low income apartment complex was built next door. However that's almost a straw man to a point. NIMBYs don't say we'd accept the development of duplexes, triplexes or multi-family along transits routes in our cities but simply don't want low income housing. No. NIMBYs fight almost all new development. That's the issue. Low income people are not buying, or renting, duplexes or triplexes or living in fancy new apartments. The occupants of the units may not be at the same income level as the single family homeowners but they aren't low income either. Yet NIMBYs fight to keep them out.

Can't say I've ever heard NIMBYism compared to Q-Anon. That is definitely a new one Old Trapper.

Ok, so help me understand here. In your mind the NIMBY movement doesn't exist, nor does its counter the YIMBY movement, it's just a lie made up by racists? Wow. I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. Not sure if you're trolling or just ignorant on the topic.
