It's a matter of respect not just for the man but for the office.

In the military, officers are saluted by all those junior to them. They are not saluting the officer per se, but the uniform and what it represents. In return, all those being salute return the salute as a sign of mutual respect for the uniform and the service.

Trump, of course, respects no one but himself. This is why I believe he'll cut short the 30 day time period which is 28JAN25.

Flags will fly at half-staff for 30 days following Carter's death. That protocol was set in a proclamation from President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954, per the National Archives.

That proclamation states "that the flag of the United States of America be flown at half-staff on Federal buildings, grounds, and facilities upon the death of principal officials and former officials of the Government of the United States and the Governors of the States, Territories, and possessions of the United States as a mark of respect to their memory."

The proclamation goes on to set time limits:
  • 30 days from the day of death for the president or a former president.
  • 10 days for the vice president, the chief justice or retired chief justice of the Supreme Court, or the speaker of the House of Representatives.
  • From the day of death until interment for an associate justice of the Supreme Court, a member of the Cabinet, a former vice president, the president pro tempore of the Senate, the majority and minority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives.

Personally I don't think the flags will go to full staff until January 28th after 30 days from President Carter's death...

He wants to shut down news networks, SNL and put Liz Cheney in prison. Do you agree that is righteous or is it just another day of Trump being a petty, spineless piece of shit?
