I just wonder why ANY Republican would ever run for ANY office.

Republicans do NOT know how to govern and show absolutely no proficiency at governing. And folks, GOVERNING is an essential of civilization.

Why not just stay as the loyal opposition...and keep the excesses of the Democrats in check?

REPUBLICANS...you are totally without competence at governing. At least have the decency to stay out of the way so that the other party CAN govern. And you can help them by reining them in when necessary.

mccain didn't start out that way. Mccain enriched himself through politics. Romney came to politics already uber rich.

I don't know if I have the answer, I am just trying to figure out romneys motivations. I don't think it's money because he has plenty of it. Many senators starting out are rich compared to the average american, but not romney rich. He's already won that race.

Romney was massively butthurt in 2016. Why so butthurt?

I think he is a uniparty deepstater tbh

i don't think alienating the base is going to help him, and the dems are never going to vote for him. Liberal republicans will never be successful. He's been hoodwinked by the DC cocktail circuit, being a "good republican" while he's temporarily allowed to write for the wapost, before being tossed out by the liberal establishment when they are done using him

I honestly don't know if I would even trust romney or a mccain type on something like that either. I used to, it used to be the one thing that would make me hope for republican wins, even if I didn't vote. But now... I don't think a mccain type or a romeny type will ever give us a scalia. I think we'd get a roberts type, someone that gives conservatives the little victories while fucking us over on the big important things.

Obama was very beatable

After Palins speech at the convention, McShamnesty got a boost in the polls. But then he sabotaged himself.

Romney is just like his old man. They like tax cuts but pay lip service to everything else.
