Trump Signs Exec Order Paving Way For Nuke Plant Construction

Nuclear Plant in danger of shutting down

Nuclear power plants generate more than half of the US’s low-carbon electricity. However, record low gas prices associated with the US fracking boom have made many existing nuclear plants uncompetitive in the current market.

Saw it on a breaking news flash. Another big win for Trump; they're coming almost daily.
Executive orders do not have the force of law, do not create a lasting legacy, and can be easily overturned on a whim by the next president.

Trump is too lazy to do the hard work of passing A legislative agenda.

EOs to MAGAs are the equivalent dangling bright shiny things in front of farm animals.

Right now, the nuclear plants in my area are just barely hanging on financially.
MAGA morons want to spike the football every time Trump issues an executive order, even though EOs don't have the force of law.

What Executive Orders show is that Trump doesn't have the talent or energy to pass meaningful and lasting legislative agendas.

This EO is exactly the same as the one which is suppose to lower drug prices, absolutely meaningless. In the end economics is what is going to determine what happens.

Ah yes. The "Let's make America Chernoble" EO.

The EO puts DOGE in charge of safety at nuclear plants.
Putting DOGE in charge of safety at nuclear plants should really worry everybody in the USA, I know it scares the shit out of me.
I wonder how much their budget for it will be, a dollar or two?
And will they be in charge of security too?

Actually the safety will be assigned to the companies with the best safety and construction records, but please, don't let the facts keep you halfwits from parroting idiot rubbish.

While the U.S. has the most accidents, there have only been 8 deaths in the entire history of nuclear plants here. WE also have by far the largest number of plants, at 94, so our safety record is actually much better than Europe's. Compare that with ...

Number of deaths by food poisoning in the U.S. in 2019: 931

Yep and MUSK and DOGE weren't involved and didn't have anything to do with their budget.
And who is " parroting " anything?

It seems you don't know the difference between operating a nuclear power plant and constructing one. Then safety requires building to the current safety standards. If old standards were 12" of concrete and new standards are 8" of concrete, what thickness of concrete do you think will be used?

We also have some of the strictest safety regulations which the Trump EO says are to be eliminated.

The funny thing about past deaths is they don't predict future deaths. Arguing that because we have never had a nuclear accident in the past we don't have to have high safety standards to prevent one in the future is complete nonsense.
