It is part of his qualifications, along with years as Mississippi State Auditor, Commander-In-Chief of the Mississippi National Guard, and a dozen other roles.

Whoa, hold the dishonesty for a moment! Phelan will not be running the Navy; he will serve as the civilian control of the Navy. The Navy Chief of Staff will still be running the Navy. The founders wanted the military running the military, but always being under the control of civilian authority.

Let me know what part of this confuses you.

His overwhelming qualification is that he is civilian, and not military.

Incompetence and criminality are job requirements to serve in a Republican administration. During the last five Republican presidencies 119 administration officials were convicted of crimes. During the last five Democratic presidencies one administration official was convicted of a crime.

Sad, but funny because it's true.

It's long been a goal of the Republican Party to destroy the Federal government. It used to be "States Rights", but now they are seeking to do it through corruption and incompetence.

You're right. I've always thought incompetence was an intentional feature, not a bug.

Hiring people who hate the government to run the government is the same as hiring a football coach who hates football. The intention is to not have the institution succeed.

That seems to be the plan. When the plan starts working, I'm curious to see how most Americans react. I'm guessing they won't take it very well.
