A Florida park was overrun with what looked like zombies — but turned out to be drug abusers.

Clearwater Police were patrolling Crest Lake Park when they discovered several people who had taken the street drug spice, a form of synthetic marijuana.

A video released by the Clearwater Police Department shows a group of people slumped over, sitting around in a circle and fidgeting.

An officer tries asking the group questions, but they are all unable to answer. Only toward the end, does a woman speak up and repeat, "my name?"

A 22-year-old woman who was attacked by a 21-year-old man in an apparent domestic violence assault has died.

Officers responded to the scene in Seattle's University District after receiving reports of a disturbance there, said Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle police.

When police arrived, they could hear people arguing inside the residence. Officers knocked on the door but there was no answer, so they looked in a window and saw a man violently assaulting the female victim, Jamieson said. KAPP/KVEW has learned the young woman is 21 year old Katy Straalsund.

Officers forced open the door and pulled the man off Straalsund. Officers then began performing CPR on the woman, who was unresponsive, until medics arrived from the Seattle Fire Department. The woman was then rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Officers arrested the 21-year-old suspect and later booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault, Jamieson said. KAPP/KVEW has learned that man is Casey S. Henderson.

Both Henderson and Straalsund were students at the University of Washington.

A Connecticut jail guard assaulted a mailman while screaming “nigger” after the Postal employee peed near the drunk off-duty jailer’s home, police said.

Witnesses saw Daniel Alvarado, 43, punching the 23-year-old U.S. Postal Service employee, smashing his head into the ground and pointing a handgun at his stomach.

Alvarado, a correctional lieutenant, hit the black man, Roshane Thompson, in the face while on top of him and yelled out racial slurs, police said.

A woman who told WTIC-TV she dialed 911 described the beating of Thompson.

“All the poor kid was doing was apologizing to this guy,” she said. “He still wouldn't let him go. He literally wanted to kill him.”

Police said Alvarado noticed Thompson urinating in trees near his backyard.

Investigators have arrested an Oregon parolee for sexually assaulting a woman along the Springwater Corridor.

Thomas Peacock, who will turn 51 on Friday, was arrested Thursday. Gresham Police detectives and members of the East Metro SWAT Team found him around Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Southeast Portland.

The investigation started March 18 when police were called to the Walmart on the 3900 block of West Powell Blvd. on reports of a woman who had been attacked while on the Springwater Corridor.

According to police, the woman was riding her bike along the corridor when she got a flat tire. While changing her tire, the woman flagged down a man riding a mountain bike and asked for help.

Investigators now believe that man was Peacock.

Peacock spoke with the woman for a short time “before threatening to kill her,” police said. Officers said Peacock threatened the woman with a knife.

“He then forced her into a wooded area to the south of the trail and sexually assaulted her,” according to police.

Han, his wife Huijie Yu and their 5-year-old daughter Emily were found Wednesday when sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check at their home, the sheriff said.

An Eaton Rapids man caught in Battle Creek with child pornography was sentenced Thursday to federal prison.

Benjamin J. Knight, 28, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker to 17½ years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

He also was fined $5,000 and must register as a sexual offender when he is released from prison.

Knight pleaded guilty to distribution and attempted distribution of child pornography.

Knight was arrested in Battle Creek after police said he was showing another man a video of child pornography on his phone while he was at Romantix, an adult products store.

As part of the investigation police seized his phone and later his computers after obtaining a search warrant for his home in Eaton County.

At the time, Major Jim Grafton of the Battle Creek Police Department said, "It is one of the most gruesome child porn cases I have seen. There are some disturbing images of some very young children doing bad things."

Grafton said bestiality and other sex acts were depicted and that detectives "had to shut it off and walk away."

Eight charges were issued against Knight in Calhoun County but later the U.S. Attorney took the case and Knight was indicted in federal court. He faced a lesser maximum sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted in state court.

In documents filed by the U.S. Attorney before Knight was sentenced, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Lewis said the material Knight possessed featured infants and toddlers and many of the images and videos included "brutal sexual assaults on and sexual abuse of helpless and extremely vulnerable children."

Lewis said Knight wrote to others "about how he took pleasure in the suffering of children. The defendant further wrote that he had himself sexually abused children and wanted to do so again in the future."

Lewis wrote that Knight had offered to pay the parent of an 18-month old child "if the parent would allow him to rape the child and he bragged that he has successfully paid someone to abuse their child in the past."

Prosecutors said they seized material from Knight showing rapes of prepubescent children.

Not at all, Brother Leon. Criminals come from all races. It's not like I'm posting pictures of black suspects and declaring that all blacks are criminals. That'd be racist.

It just always SEEMS to be white people that do this stuff. I guess because there are so many.
