Helmut Norpoth is real science? ROFLMAO...
1. His current model hasn't been updated since March when it relied on the 49% approval from Gallup and includes a caution that a drop in support will change the model. (Gallup has now dropped to 39%)
2. His model relies on incumbent Presidents winning the majority of the time. I notice that Carter and GHW Bush didn't meet that standard and neither is included in his modeling accuracy claim.
3. His model has been accurate 5 out of 6 times since 1996. (Since 1950 July opinion polling has correctly predicted the Nov winner 15 out of 16 times. It even showed Trump with a lead in July over Clinton.)
4. Norpoth doesn't give us any of the "science" he uses in his model.
5. Norpoth's prediction of only 172 electoral votes for Biden is laughable since it means Trump would have to win states like MA, CT and IL where Trump is trailing by 20 or more points in polling.
