Two Calif. cities to vote on banning smoking in apartments

and if you did....and if it was determined that you were overly tired and you fell asleep or whatever.,..you would be in jail for manslaughter so what is your point retard?

If I had done the same action while drunk I would be charged with that too. I am comparably inhibited by my sleeplessness. Better pass some legislation to deal with this important issue.

I'm not sure why you missed it .. I boldened and made the type larger that asnwered your question.

hmm. i must have a reading comprehension problem because i dont see how smoking in your own private residence affects the general public?

can u explain to me?

Think of the children BF. We should outlaw anything that presents any risk whatsoever to anyone anywhere.

I didn't say that dumb fuck I said that in public buildings, you should not be allowed to smoke. Outside yes....if a business owner lets you yes....in your apartment yes.....in a govt. building....no.

and so there is a penalty for it already.

Sure I can .. There is no risk-free level of exposure to second hand smoke

And if you have a maid that works in your apartment, you've exposed her to your poison.

If you have children in your apartment, you've exposed them to your poison.

Ant exposure to your poison has risks for those who breathe it.

You do not have rights to the lives of other people.

well then they should make a law about banning second hand smoke to children and maids. not banning smoking

Your drinking alcohol does not endager anyone near you until you get drunk enough to cause others danger and we already have laws to deal with that .. as we should.

yeah laws after the crime has been committed. Like spouse or child abuse or someone dead from a drunk driver...

Yep just make more laws....

In all seriousness, I don't get it.

Didn't you read the statistics of the health risks that are associated with smoking? How does one in any sense of consciousness, defend the right to cause damage to someone else's health, and in some cases, to the health of their own children? How does that occur?

This demonstrates the fallacy and disconnect from reality of those who claim to fight for "personal freedom" and what is legally or constitutionally correct.

It's saying fuck the lives of other people and fuck children .. I have a right to poison them. The Constitution says it right here ...

yep, BAC seems to bee hitting more than one track here.
Sounds like a reformed smoker to me ?

I have never smoked cigarettes in my life. It smells like it would taste nasty and I have no clue why those who smoke do so. I've also never been drunk in my life because alcohol tastes horrible and I've never liked the way drunks looked, smelled, or acted.

Your defense of poisoning other people needlessly is curious. Sounds like you're the smoker, not me.

And the health risks associated with obesity and drinking are ?
Lets just pass a law punishing someone for feeding a child too much ?

Intellectual honesty always helps in conversation.

Let's talk about the known dangers of smoking and we can get to obesity and drinking later.

Cigarette smoking poisons other people and you're telling me that doesn't matter because there are fat people in the world.

Let's have a grown-up conversation about cigarette smoking .. but I'm sure you already know that it's a conversation you will lose .. so let's talk about fat people.

Yes it does, I have noticed you have dodged the reformed smoker aspect a couple of times and responded all around it...

He responded to it, usc.

Ohh so sorry missed it....
My sincere apologies.

But doesn't that say something to you? You're not proud to be a smoker and I'm sure you recognize the dangers to your own health that is at risk.

Forget about the legalities or the constitutionality .. how about the health of other people?

Does your spirituality allow you endanger the health of others without any consequence to your own being? .. I would guess that answer is no. I would imagine that if you really looked at the medical evidence and considered the risks to yourself and well as the danger to others, including children, you would be standing on this side of the fence with me.

As I've said, I don't smoke cigarettes and I'm not around those who do, but I consider the danger others, particularly children, are in because of smoking.

Just this morning I read that sleeping less than 6 hours a night is detrimental to the long term health of the body.

Should we pass a law mandating 6 hours of sleep per night, enforceable by a small fine?

My point is that science suggests a number of completely accurate things which we could do to improve our life. This is not the same saying that a law should be passed so that everyone will improve their life in a way that scientists or myself feel is beneficial to society.

This is the same argumentative style I use against Christian theocrats who feel that they have some right to dictate the personal choices of others.

You're argument is non-sequitor.

blackascoal -

the point u are missing. is that in the privacy of your own home no public person is effected by second hand smoke.

It should not be illegal to smoke in your home.

I can agree with you there as long as you're the only one breathing the poison.

I agree.
