Everyone agrees the south supported slavery and that's part of why they seceded. But they did not think lincoln would start a war because of that. And make no mistake lincoln started the war when he refused to move his troops out of fort sumter.

When the war started, stupid fuck, Lincoln's goal was to preserve the Union. Since every state that seceded included slavery in their secession documents, it WAS about slavery.

The war was about slavery, but not in the way most people think. The central issue was if a man owns himself. If he, not the collective, owns himself, he should be free to leave an association without being killed for it. Lincoln didn't free blacks, he made slaves out of everyone. He turned these united states into The United States, the plantation.

Second, moron, there is no constitutional provision or mechanism for a state to secede from the Union. To claim there is some right to do so is absurd.

Nothing in the constitution bans secession either. In fact many argue that the tenth amendment gives states the right to secede.

suggest you read the articles of secession by the various traitor states. Secession was indeed all about slavery in the traitors own words.
