Universal Healthcare

Stop trying to lie the American right into socialism/communism. Start telling them the horrible truth and find out how bad they want it and need it!

It's a big choice to make and there's likely no turning back once the cuhluhed get their teeth into it.

It's Single Payer, Medicare for all vets. The test system in America is right before our eyes and the left screams for Single Payer for all. No wonder I never, ever voted for a bleeping Democrat, huh?

The VA isn't single payer.. The VA is owned and operated by the government that employs the doctors and staff.

You were saying godless and un American.. Are you a Dominionist or something?

1) Wasn't Obamacare supposed to prevent that and lower costs? Ever wonder why it didn't? There's an easy way to stop those transfers and cut costs on those of us that have taken the responsibility to have coverage for ourselves and our families.

2) There is no such thing as corporate welfare. That's a made up term. Are you saying none of the businesses you claim receive tax loopholes pay any taxes? How much in taxes do those receiving food stamps, living in government housing, etc. pay into the pot which funds those things?

1. That stuff went on before Obamacare. I'm not defending Obamacare, it's a horrible law. You're not just paying your own way, assuming you don't require too much care that is, you're also paying for others and always have been. I don't like being overcharged.

2. One of the reasons companies can pay lower wages is because the taxpayers subsidize the working poor. There was a good thread on this a couple of years ago, WalMart and McDonalds as part of their new hire orientation hand out detailed instructions on how to apply for benefits. They don't pay what they would have to pay in a real labor market because we (taxpayers) are subsidizing their workforce. Yes, I call that corporate welfare.

Single payer in the form of government subsidization for privately provided service is a stop gap measure and possibly a step in the right direction.
But it's not the final answer.

Complete deprivatization--public services--is the ultimate answer.

The UK has had it right since 1948.
That's how backward we are.

But it will finally change soon.

That's not the norm for VA hospitals.

No its not. There are exceptions of course. The one here in Richmond is a bright spot in the system but that has more to do with a kind of public private relationship they use there.
As a rule VA hospitals are not very good.

Sort of.. the various payers.. Insurance companies, HMOs, PPOs, PHOs all have different paperwork and drug schedules that add about 30% to administrative costs.. plus there's the time that staff and physicians have to spend calling back to get approval on drugs and treatments.

I don't think the British model is the right way for the US to go.

Hi, shitbags. Just thought you'd enjoy this steaming pile of Socialism. ;)

Do you think its fair to evaluate universal healthcare systems by looking at one of the worst? Canada is behind nearly every other universal healthcare system, and ranked #30 globally, and is only a few places above the US which is ranked #37. The reason why the Canadian system is better than the US is that while the quality is lower and wait times are higher, the US has wait times too, 15% of its population isn't even covered, even if you are covered you can expect thousands to hundreds of thousands in medical bills of you get sick, US healthcare costs 2 1/2 times as much, people visit the doctor a lot less in the US and there are fewer doctors, and healthcare outcomes in the US is worse than any other developed nation.

Cost shifting has been with us for 30 years.

Extended wait times is propaganda.. Americans wait for months on all elective surgeries like knee replacements etc... but emergencies are triaged.

I'm a Canadian and I speak for myself. Godless is un-american and half the fukken country still believes in the 6000 year old earth. And you think they're ready for universal health care??

How about starting them off with telling that Darwin had a better idea nearly 2 hundred years ago.

The shock could be too much for them to handle!

Wait times in Canada are directly proportional to how 'rightist' our government is and has been over the last 50 or so years. We are in a continual battle with thinktanks such as the Fraser institute that wants to make our system into something resembling the goatfuk the US is stuck with.

It's still a lot better quality than the US's health care but it could be better if we lined all the Fraser insitute traitors up against the wall and sung them a happy Valentine song with the tools that get the message across.

Same with all the other universal health care systems in the world. The capitalist bastards see dollar signs in their heads every time they think American.

LOLOL.. Your numbers are too high.. only some 30 % believe the earth is 6,000 years old.. Heck , they just discovered that Tehran, Iran is 7,000 years old.

I know it must seem that ALL Americans are stupid.. They aren't.. although this board would lead you to think otherwise.

Sorry but I can't take your word for the 30%; I'll have to check it out. Where to find the truth, I haven't any idea?

As for Tehran, I'm told by christiand that a year doesn't mean a year. Or something? Whattaya do? The god keeps time in wondrous ways.

I think the Evangelicals are beginning to go the way the mainline Protestant churches did 20 years ago.. I think they are losing numbers.. Some say only 13% of Americans are young earth fundamentalists.

Christians have been busy trying to find workarounds for their ridiculous beliefs. Changing how long a day or year is , was just the latest. They have no defense for their beliefs. Real creationism is the creation of some kind of explanation that will make the contradictions go away sufficiently to maintain their numbers.
