I believe smoking dope shouldn't get you in jail, but torturing animals definitely should.

Only if you pick them up and break their bodies, electrocute them and drown them, hang them from trees...

Trapping bears would be more of an equivalent.

How about drivimg drunk and recklessly and killing your partner in the process?

Should that get you jail time?

How about driving drunk and reckless down a highway at breakneck speed while running from the police, then when the police catch up, you attack them and get into a fight .. with the police .. AND having a record of violent behavior to boot?

Should that get you jail time?

If this person was black, it would get you SWAT and perhaps a bullet. Those of us who fit the "just because" category must remain cognizant that the rules are different for you .. just because.

Even if they are it does not change that I don't care what color a person is, if they torture animals for pleasure they deserve jail. And lots of it. If they smoke a doob, they do not deserve jail. We overfill our jail with victimless "criminals". It isn't "justice" to jail somebody who has harmed no other life whether through recklessness or purposeful action.

Correct. Hence my assertion that the current "convention" to imprison victimless "criminals" is simply wrong.

I don't care what ethnicity they may happen to be, it is still wrong.

For "sport" yes. To help the population keep to survivable levels while also gaining food, and not hurting them purposefully to no gain, no.

well vick did both he was ordered not to smoke pot or do drugs and he came up positive on his drug test...


i think he thinks by going early and his recent "finding god" episode won't work with his conservative judge.... i don't think the judge will be fooled and hopefully he's not an atlanta fan.
 
I'm not personally into hunting and I view it as a waste, but if you eat what you kill I think that's admirable, and I'm obviously not morally repulsed by game hunting, so its all good...

I agree with you about jailing victimless crimes, however, neither is it justice to maintain a double standard of injustice based on race. This is something you have the luxury of ignoring, while I do not. That injustice, which is undeniable and clearly obvious, will always exist as long as people keep ignoring it .. no differently than the issue of civil rights.

From my perspective, one cannot (not suggesting you) claim to care about civil rights while at the same time ignoring the injustice of America's double standard of justice.

Very few are in jail for casual marijuana use. In my three years as a prosecutor I never had anyone sentenced to jail for simple marijuana.
