A vaccine has never been overreach until a simple and logical thing was politicized by the anti-science right. We gave had vaccines for 250 years without a crisis. Washington's troops were in a disease epidemic and his army was treated. They did not ask them. We lined up people in New York when typhoid hit. No problem. We had TB sanitariums and people accepted it as the right thing. When polio hit they went to schools and lined up the kids. They did what science said and did not ask anyone, including parents.

I see masks as the current version of the 55 mph national speed limit. The mandate is massive overreach that prefers a one size fits all approach to things. It doesn't work like 90% of the time, but that's fine with the government flunkies that mandated it. So, it can be safely ignored 90+% of the time. The only time you need to wear a mask is when the mask police are around to enforce it, just like with 55 mph in the Carter era.

I also think at this point the longer it goes on the bigger the national joke it will become. You'll know masks have jumped the shark when comedians (do those exist anymore?) and Hollywerid start parodying and satirizing it.
