There's something going on there with both QB's going to the portal. And Texas is vulnerable.

Teams are hiring GM's now, we have payrolls etc.100% the genie should have been appeased before it escaped the bottle.
College sports and football in particular are a beautiful thing run by ugly people.
Where did you hear that? Not saying you're wrong, but that would make national news and I've seen nothing reported. There's something going on there with both QB's going to the portal.

I'm on the USC board and the Rivals board and if either of those of two declared for the portal it would be discussed ad nauseum (and the Texas fans would be melting down). There are all kind of almost troll accounts on Twitter claiming to be college football insiders that give out all kinds of false info. Not sure if saw something posted on one of those by chance. (There are accounts like that claiming to be USC insiders putting out a lot of bad info.)
It seems to change by the hour.
I've seen Ewers going back to OSU or to UNC or entering NFL draft.
Manning going to Ole Miss.
Largely speculation at this pointWhere did you hear that? Not saying you're wrong, but that would make national news and I've seen nothing reported.
From the article:Largely speculation at this point
Texas Longhorns Quarterback Quinn Ewers To Transfer To Oregon Ducks? Agent Shuts Down Report
The No. 1 Oregon Ducks have been led by transfer quarterbacks the last four seasons in Dillon Gabriel, Bo Nix and Anthony Brown. Could another transfer portal qwww.si.com
Arch Manning makes transfer decision amid Quinn Ewers draft rumor: report
After reports emerged that Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft following this season, all eyes turned to the future of Arch Manningwww.si.com
Now if Quinn comes back then all bets are off and Arch could leave. I guess I took his post literally when he said they were in the portal as opposed to it being just speculation.Largely speculation at this point

No, I purposely added “speculation”Now if Quinn comes back then all bets are off and Arch could leave. I guess I took his post literally when he said they were in the portal as opposed to it being just speculation.
It could be worse. Just think if he was a Nebraska fan.No, I purposely added “speculation”
And I felt empathy for you being a hard core USC fan, like hitting yourself in the head with a two by four every day, but being on a board, which I assume has something to do with athletics, must be really frustrating
The board is really interesting. (I rarely post there. I just view it for updates on the team, recruiting info, transfer portal stuff etc.) Ostensibly we're all on the same team (although the reality is we do get a few posters who like other schools but are trolling as USC fans) but with the heated discussions you might think you were on JPP.No, I purposely added “speculation”

I’ll take your word on that one, seen those fan forums, even seen high school ones that were nuts, adults lambasting players. What amazes me is that young athletes follow social mediaThe board is really interesting. (I rarely post there. And its no different than here in that people yell, argue and fight but it doesn't have any affect in the real world. So while we can certainly be homers it's a strange dynamic when you see how much infighting there is (especially when you go 6-6).
What's crazy about the (USC) board is you have (for example) doctors and lawyers (highly educated and successful people) that will start screaming at each other like we do on here. Being a fan can make otherwise dignified people lose their mind.I’ll take your word on that one, seen those fan forums, even seen high school ones that were nuts, adults lambasting players. 20 and counting…The world done change huh? Throughout our (horrible) season you would hear some people say "well at least some young guys are getting playing time and we'll be ready to go next year".
But that's basically an antiquated old school viewpoint in today's world. With the kids transferring the way they are you can't just assume that your players will stick around. It's not total roster turnover each year but there's a good amount of it.
I know it’s technically the NCAA domain but Congress will step in here at some point. Things are going to look different in five years.20 and counting…
Yep, I think so too. I'll find it interesting how Bowl season looks in 5 years. The NCAA is pretty useless...like tits on a bull at this point. You're probably right about Congress stepping in and doing something.I know it’s technically the NCAA domain but Congress will step in here at some point. USC has been attempted to be thrust into relevance by the media over and over again and it's not working.I'm on the USC board and the Rivals board and if either of those of two declared for the portal it would be discussed ad nauseum (and the Texas fans would be melting down). If you are talking about speculation then sure, all kinds of speculation of what could happen (Ewers declaring for the draft seems to be leading prediction). But that's different than officially declaring for the portal.
This was our third year with Riley and we went 6-6, so I'm not going to try and defend us. But as far as your claim vis a vis relevance and the media, I'm not following. It's not like people were saying we were going to win a national title. We beat LSU to start the season and that understandably caught people's attention. But once we started losing it all went away.USC has been attempted to be thrust into relevance by the media over and over again and it's not working.
And it never will until Riley is gone. Then maybe just maybe. Lost to Maryland? Really?
Lot of people need to get a lifeWhat's crazy about the (USC) board is you have (for example) doctors and lawyers (highly educated and successful people) that will start screaming at each other like we do on here. Being a fan can make otherwise dignified people lose their mind.
I 100% agree with you about athletes and social media and why would they be on it EXCEPT everything today is about their "brand" and the number of followers they have.
They are only trying to duplicate the success and dollars that the basketball tournament does with football. It is a mistake, and is only going to centralized college football moreYep, I think so too. I'll find it interesting how Bowl season looks in 5 years.
