We Have So Much To Be Thankful To China For

This whole 'hate China' thing is a sadly recurring and wrongfully misplaced theme among conservative thinkers.

And to think that a lot of these China haters are also gun nuts raises an extreme hypocrisy.

We have to wonder if they even know who invented gunpowder.

If European invaders had not acquired gunpowder technology from China, their conquest of America would almost certainly have gone very differently. There might not even be a USA if it were not for that Chinese invention.

It is reminiscent of the absurd hatred of France to the point of trying to change French Fries into Freedom Fries, all the while forgetting that without France, the USA would never have gained independence.

The USA has benefited so very greatly from Chinese wisdom, tech and cheap manufacturing over the centuries...

And then there is our great economy. (at least up until a little while ago) The US economy would be NOTHING without China. Our economies are so interlinked and intertwined it would be devastating to both if we tried to separate them and go all isolationist.

We need to maintain a good relationship with China.

Historically, China has a rich culture. Taiwan shows us what China could have become, had it not been for the Communists.

Modern China is a pathetic shadow of its historical self.

This is why maintaining good relations with Taiwan is more important than good relations with China.

What Chinese tech lol
They have none !!!
All they do is copy from smarter nations

They have pretty much wiped out every endangered animal on earth ...as well

Chinese universities do have Liberal Arts majors, and even poetry majors. On top of that, many come to the USA to study at our great universities.

Somehow I doubt Nazi Bitch even knows what Liberal Arts is. She has lived her life in the servile arts.

You know, you are correct by saying I know nothing of liberal arts, Walt. I knew those worthless courses would not do me any good when it came to making a living, so I ignored them for courses that would actually do me some good in life. But hey, you, the commie bitch, must have wasted your time in those silly courses, you don't seem too bright.

Totally agree. And it should certainly be noted that Taiwan has NOTHING to do with the WHO, not a member. They took on their OWN safety program to deal with COVID-19 and it was FABULOUSLY successful. They have a remarkable record at this point. Only (7) total deaths in the entire country. Taiwan did it right.

Hello and welcome Quasar44,

I'm glad you found our forum. I normally like to acquaint all newcomers with my own personal rules, which are more strict than the site rules. I require polite posting and seek academic discussion. I hope these rules are acceptable to you.

"Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate! ps: Feel free to adopt my PIP. It works well."

Basically, I mostly don't care how you treat others, but if you get on my case I will cut it off. There is no way I am getting into an abuser/enabler relationship.

I hope this is OK with you and we can have many great discussions.

OK, now that that is out of the way I'll comment on your post:

I disagree with this. It is a generalization which is not true in every case. China began a program to improve their education system several generations ago, and the results have been astounding. They have out-educated the USA, and formed amazing tech companies. It was once true that most of their tech was stolen, and they certainly still do reverse engineer our tech and take what they like (they are the Human Borg,) but much of what they have is the result of their own engineering. For instance, they are far ahead of us on Bullet Trains.

They have pretty much wiped out every endangered animal on earth ...as well

Very close to being true. It is just dumb, what they have done in that regard. They are aware of the problem and have begun to address it, but it is so ingrained in their culture that, so far, the measures are not fixing the problem. More must be done.

And China is not the only culprit in that regard. Species loss has accelerated due to global warming, so we all play a part.

Most of the American youths are complete dolts who will never amount to anything!!
Americans hate trains and it would never work in the USA

Be that what it may or may not, we are better off for having China in the world.

They built our railroads, and Chinese food can be awesome.

Not to mention, it sure makes a budget go a long way, having all those low price products available. If all that stuff was built in America it would cost a lot more.

Again. http://www.jiesworld.com/international_corporations_in_china.htm These are American corporations in China. They moved for cheap, unprotected workers and no environmental laws. They went for short term profits since American corporations do not think of the future. it is maxing out short term profits. They did not care about the impact of sending our manufacturing to China.
The fact is the person who makes a product is the one who improves it. They improve themselves at the same time. They become ahead of the world in manufacturing, but at least the wealthy Americans made mega billions. The Chinese educational system produces engineers and workers who are actually producing real products. They are developing working systems and concepts of manufacturing. Soon they will be beyond our reach. But, some wealthy Americans made tremendous profits. Isn't that worth it.

Do I detect a bit of sarcasm there?

Many American homes have something called a "China Cabinet."

It's where one keeps 'Fine China.'

The Chinese have advanced the art of ceramics to the point that they have set the world standard for ceramics. Some very old items are incredibly valuable, and are traded at antique shows and shops.

We have China to thank for this art, and what has become a very integral part of American culture.

I would not be surprised if DT and Melania have a 'China Cabinet' full of very expensive ceramics.

I bet there's more at Mar-A-Lago, and at the tower in NYC.
