What if everyone voted? The case for 100 percent democracy.

Let me stop you right there..

You are NOT the arbiter of who is and isn't informed.

Your personal judgment when it comes to that is highly, HIGHLY suspect since I have caught you on numerous occasions bullshitting about things like election bills and oil prices.

I'm not making a specific case about some person, but rather a generality. There are clearly lazy, stupid, and uninformed people in the US population. Forcing them to vote won't suddenly make them smart, energetic, and well informed.

If one chooses not to vote, that is called liberty and choice.
If one chooses not to vote, that is a vote. It's called 'abstaining'.
Of course, uneducated dunces think we are a Democracy. We are a Democratic Republic of States.
There is no such thing as a 'democratic republic'. A democracy is government by popular vote. There is no constitution and no representatives. A republic is government by constitution. It has representatives. Elections are conducted as outlined in that constitution.
Our Constitution limits the Federal Governments power reserving all others to the states.
Or to the people. Correct. The States own the Constitution. They ordain it to power (created it), they are the only ones that can modify it, and they are the only ones that can destroy it (and the government defined and declared by it is dissolved). In each State, the people own that State constitution. They are the only ones that ordain it to power (creating it), they are the only ones that can modify it, and they are the only ones that can destroy it (and thus dissolve the State, leaving the Union).
We use an electoral process to elect Presidents. It is a brilliant way to ensure that the many do not overrun the few and makes every state relevant in those elections. I wish you had not flunked out of grade school. We wouldn't have to spend so much time educating you. [/size] :palm:
Correct. This is outlined in the Constitution itself.

Nobody said that. You rightys are terribly misinformed, but you should still have the right to vote. Politicians affect everyone's life whether they are smart or Trumpian. They should all vote.

who wrote the bill of rights.

give credit where it's due. or fucking go be a chinese russian sellout.

Well, perhaps James Madison had a change of heart after 15 years, and felt he needed to give WHITE MEN EVEN MORE RIGHTS- FUCK EVERYONE ELSE!

He wrote the Bill of Rights after his constituents laid into him and threatened to vote for someone else, HOWEVER it didn't free slavery or treat women as equal to men! So he definitely sucked and so did his SO-CALLED bill of WHITE rights!

But still, Black women were not even allowed to vote until 1965, even though Black men were only freed in 1865, but yet not allowed to vote until 1870.

White Women were not even allowed to vote until 1920.

SO as I said- our forefathers were a bunch of racist misogynistic bigots and assholes!

Be proud of them now!

LV implied that in the post I responded to. You are dismissing that without merit.

As for forced voting, I think that's not only wrong but immoral in a free and open society. Whether someone should vote isn't yours to decide. Not voting is still voting.

There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance
A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance

A planet of playthings, we dance on the strings of powers we cannot perceive
The stars aren't aligned or the Gods are malign, blame is better to give than receive

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill

There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them they weren't born in Lotus Land

All preordained, a prisoner in chains, a victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face, you can pray for a place, in heaven's unearthly estate

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill

Each of us, a cell of awareness, imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends with uncertain ends on a fortune hunt that's far too fleet

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose Freewill

Dems want this cuz when you're sucking ass your party members become look warm and just don't vote quite often.

Plus they want this while calling half the country terrorists.

Fuck that and fuck them.

Fuck that!!!

There is no fucking way I am voting for a candidate unless they are up to the job and ALL of their major, policy positions merge with mine.
And considering 99.9% of all politicians I have been able to vote for were useless pieces of human excrement (no matter their party affiliation), IMO?
That means I would be forced to vote for a candidate whom I think will do FAR more harm than good.

AND even if I am given the option of 'not voting for any candidate'?
How dare the assholes in government, FORCE me to do so.

Again...FUCK THAT!!!

While I disagree with the idea of forced voting, a dissent vote gives a truer picture of the population's desires. If 40% don't vote and the remaining voters overwhelmingly vote for one candidate, 9 out of 10 voters, it may look like he has 90% support of the citizens. However, if the majority of the non-voters voted for the challenger, while the candidate may still win, it results in a truer picture of popular support.

Odds are, most of those 40% are poor or young people. Both groups tend to think their vote doesn't matter.

Both groups skew Democrat which is why there will be little to no support from the Republicans on this issue.

Automatic registration for all

Then you have to fill out the same paperwork all others voting citizens fill out

You just have to fill in the opt out part and mail it in

If you don’t

you get a ballot next go round

And if I send in my ballot with a huge "FUCK YOU!" scrawled across it, what then?

Of course the republicans hate that idea

The republicans only win elections when they can reduce the amount of Americans voting

I agree that a dissenting vote is valuable information.

But forcing people to vote under penalty of a fine is ludicrous.

It also would force more, poor people to vote (who can less easily afford the fine) than middle/upper class people.
And lower class people are generally less intelligent/educated...that is a fact.
These people hold more simplistic ideas, know little of the world and are easy to con.
Forcing more gullible/stupid people to vote is NOT what America needs.

The idea is not only morally flawed.
But I say it would hurt America - not help it.

It would also mean that many people may take it as an opportunity to fuck with the system by voting in random and unexpected ways.

Like me.

If the government is forcing me to vote - and I like none of the candidates (as per usual)?
Then I am going to fuck with them ANY legal(ish) way I can.
And I will vote for the most obscure party on the ballot - just to spite the fuckers forcing me to vote.
Or I will write in my own candidate 'F. U. CKYOU'.

Forcing voters to vote under penalty of a fine?
FUCK THEM!!!
