What should be the consequences of attempting to overthrow our government

That makes them traitors to this country and if you are a law and order type of person, then you know and support that the consequences is the death penalty. It dam well doesn't support the idea that we let this group have a voice in this country.

All January 6 terrorists should be prosecuted for treason.

Jan 6, 2021.
A day that will never be forgotten: When a group of insurrectionists tried to violently overturn an election.

Who, the anarchists who made the CHAZ / CHOP and declared themselves an autonomous nation?
Or maybe the radical Leftists that have been burning and looting cities for months on end?

Yea, I'd say those sort need a serious smackdown...

Do you support the violent attack on the Capitol, Jan. 6? One cop murder and hundred injured.

I am often quite critical of the founders on these pages,
but they did one thing right.

They made it totally safe and legal to overthrow the government with national elections every two years.

With this massive power purposely put into our hands, efforts to overthrow it by any other means should be met with Draconian consequences.
So should statehouse efforts to obstruct the voting.
Draconian consequences are needed for that as well.

Both have taken place.
It's time to make the perpetrators pay very dearly.
Mercy definitely has its place, but not here.

The only person "murdered" that day was Ashlee Babbitt. No police officer died during the riot and 134 - 140 were injured to various degrees.

The physical toll on officers who defended the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack by a pro-Trump mob is becoming clearer, with reports by police officials and federal prosecutors indicating that about 140 officers were injured, the head of the Capitol Police officers’ union said.

134 Police Officers Assaulted in Capitol Riots, Justice Department Says

The rioters who fought with police should be charged with assault and or battery as appropriate. The office who shot Babbitt should be identified and an open inquiry into that shooting should take place.

As for the riot at the Capitol, I take that as seriously as any other riot. The rioters should be charged appropriately. That goes for the Capitol rioters, BLM rioters, looters, arsonists, and of course Antifa. In the case of Antifa, anyone associated with that group should be arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit arson, looting, and rioting.

So, let me ask you, should BLM and Antifa rioters be arrested and tried for their violence, not to mention crimes like looting?

...unarmed.

blm antifa has done much worse, and poor Richard ignores it.

he's a compromised partisan hack.

People that attacked police, looted, and burned down building at riots this last year have been charged and the majority of them were not BLM or antifa.
Meanwhile - These people that attacked police and invaded the Capitol to try to overturn an election pretty clearly identify as Trump supporters. Why should they not be charged with crimes if they committed them?

It has to be made clear that all the trumpys are criminals and have to be treated as criminals, as far as I'm concerned they have lost their voice in America when they tried to destroy our country and our democracy ,they should be criminally charged heavily for all crimes committed. Now that the whole party has committed itself in support of trump , they are this countries biggest threat and enemy. This never can be forgotten. These people are traitors to this country.

Getting at the root of the problem which compelled the protesters to converge, essentially unarmed, in the first place, should be goal #1.

A metaphor: Someone who shoots and kills another is guilty of murder unless the facts show he did so in self defense.

The first thing to do is to discover why he did what he did.

Same thing with the Jan. 6 incursion.

The mob says it was to overthrow the govt.

We know it was to stop the steal.

The first objective would be to understand why they did what they did.

To do otherwise is to show how fucked up Libs/Dems are.

Some of the Portland rioters have been offered Deferred Resolution Agreements which means they have to remain law abiding or the charges can be reinstated. I am sure we will see the same thing for some of the non violent ones from 1/6. But probably not for most of the people in this picture who rifled through Senate papers and disrupted the election certification.

I suppose insanity is a defense but it doesn't let them off scott free. They will have to demonstrate they now live in reality before they would be released from their local insane asylum.

do you advocate the charges be dropped like they were for bleamers?

If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government. — Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist (#28)
