what was the best time in American history?

So Jarod & I agree, except for the "love it or leave it" statement.

I imagine if a liberal was around in the Vietnam era they heard that intolerant slogan a lot. Now they're the ones slinging it.

and if you borrow ten dollars when you are making 10million but you don't pay it off.....then the next year you make 8, does it really matter than you used to make ten million?.........you still owe ten dollars.....

I stopped reading the thread right here because I agree with this 100%. IMO, things went well during this time period. Coincidentally, I think of the two main guys who were presidents in that time period as the last two real leaders we had. GB got caught up in politics but was a good man but Reagan and Clinton were leaders. As to the best is yet to come...I hope y'all are right but am not so optimistic.

I am....we hit rock bottom with Bush....no where to go but up! :)
 
For me, it's anytime other than when someone or some regime is trying to fundamentally change the constitutional nature of the republic. During these periods, I neither love nor hate this "country", because it is no longer America and I have no stake in it. I feel no need to engage in any activity that might be remotely helpful to bring about that "fundamental change". During these periods, I simply batten down the hatches and ride out the storm, because we always seem to come to our senses eventually. Although I must confess, I'm a bit worried about this round. There may be too many stupid low information liberals for an easy recovery this time.
 
These opinions are generally based on periods of happiness for each contributor with the years included. There's nothing wrong with that but it doesn't reflect on the overall picture of exactly when America was in it's heyday and when the country was in decline.

The opinions are based from people's lifetimes and not the country's lifetime.

Had you actually read the thread, you would realise that the majority of posters who answered the question chose time periods other than their own lifespans or in some cases, when they would have been too young to know the difference.

Hence your pronouncement is incorrect (as usual) and valueless.
