what was the best time in American history?

I find it very interesting that the discussion from the Conservatives has solely centered on economics.

The question was what was the Best time in American History....

Economics is one small factor, in my opinion. More importantly is freedom, opportunity, and happiness. Clearly the present is the best time when you factor in everything and consider ALL AMERICANS, not that I am conceding that Economics are not better than ever before.

If you ask, what was the best time in American History for the Vanderbilts, you would get a different answer than if you asked what was the best time in American history for African Americans, or Gay Americans, or Asian Americans, or Middle Class Americans, or Women Americans.

The point of Desh's question was based on economics. The reason being if anyone with right-leaning political beliefs named a time period she would argue it was the Democrats who were responsible for the good economic news of that time period and the Republicans who were responsible for the bad. That was the whole premise of this thread.

every time you talk this country into deregulation for deregulations sake the people get fucked.

remember the savings and loan debacle?

Enron

to name couple

Tell us the years in which the US was functioning the closest to what you think we should be functioning.

Whats your favorite time period when we were getting it right?

I don't see anything here specifying economics.

Hey....money isn't everything.....as I learned from Nadine Bettinger that night on the best time ever in America.

I have a story like yours, but it does not qualify for this thread because it happened in Sweden.

No he did not.

Sorry Simp old chum. It could easily be interpreted either way.

The recession caused by Bush I was severe enough that I was able to negotiate house purchases in which the seller was willing to pay the balance between how much of the mortgage I was willing to assume, and what they actually owed. That is pretty severe, and I did it multiple times during that recession. You were what? 19 years old then?

well if you don't think being in good economic shape is part of the dynamic then that is your choice.

what was the best functioning time in this countries history according to you.

Mine would include a good economy

"the governments too big"

that is deregulation for deregulation sake.

Its NOT too big.

It is the size the American people want it to be.

You not liking that doesn't make is wise to not like it.

It means you don't understand anything in detail and just want life to be more simple.

If your too stupid to help design it and understand it then let the smart people run things
