What’s Your Favorite Christmas Cookie

A lady used to bring us a box every year adding one new one per year. My fave was a rolled buttery super thin tube. Don't know what it's called. We all fought over them.

Really good Christmas Cutouts are the most fun and delicious. We still do cookies exchanges with friends and neighbors every year-anyone else?
(I guess we should just start a new recipe thread. For everyone. As it should be :roll eyes:)

My favorite is the GF's and her sister's "good ole" chocolate chip cookies. they've just baked 1200+ Christmas cookies over the last 3 days and will finish up today!

Yes, they've been doing it every year, even before we met. They made the dough last Sat, took all day. They take off work Thurs. and Fri, She left at 7:30 yesterday morning and came home at 9:30 last evening.
She'll be leaving at 8:00 this morning! And, let me tell you, it's hard not to gain weight with so many cookies around!

You have to do Toll House for Christmas, don't you? You'll have to ask her what her favorite is...
(Wow-that's awesome-are the cookies for gifts?....it adds up fast once you get rolling!...I'm not sure how many we'll actually do for the exchange, but my daughter's done many thousands this semester...she amazes me...Of course, she's a baker. But still...:)
We're doing the Buckeyes today...I'll have to try to keep track!

Yes many are for gifts. She gives some of them to her co-workers, but she brings many home. They make many types of cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. Some time ago, a woman from Toledo who worked where I did, made buckeyes and brought them in for Christmas treats, they were fantastic!

My mother use to bake like that, many were gifts, but there was a large platter of cookies for us on Christmas and new years. The garage was the perfect place to store them, it stayed cool. My father lived her peanut brittle and would sneak into the garage to eat it. This is my first Christmas without my mother. It will be a rough one now that both my parents are gone, but I have the wonderful memories of so many great Christmases!

Who doesn't love and appreciate a plate of homemade treats! The buckeye recipe is so easy and yes, they are fantastic! You should try to get her her to make a batch or two...If she doesn't want to roll and dip, just have her make the bars. Just as good, without having to pay homage to OSU;)

Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. For years, two of our families gathered for Christmas dinner at my cousin's. First, my uncle passed, then my father, then my aunt. My mother has stage 4 cancer, but she'll be attending this year (she's fighting it, and seems to be winning, so far). It just isn't the same without them.

Well, being Penn State fans...
I may mention that to her, but they make enough for an army now! If they add them to their assortment, I might not fit in my car come spring!

I am so sorry about your mother, mine was 97, one month from her 98th. She was so ready to go, my father had passed two years earlier, they had been married 73 years, she missed him. I hope it is a joyful Christmas for your family.

Hahahaha.... that brings back a funny old memory. I used to bake the cookies far ahead of Christmas, then put them in saved plastic margarine tubs and stash them in the freezer downstairs. Apparently the secret got out because one Christmas Eve when I went to fetch them upstairs to be thawed, the tubs were nearly empty!

The next year I stored them in clean tubs I got from the butcher that said "chicken liver" on them. No more pillaging and looting. lol
