Ok, you lost me, so the decay of society is because people have kids and choose not to get married? I'm not really seeing how that effects me, or you for that matter, when you can clearly choose to get married, and stay married should your partner keep you. Should my neighbor get divorced, that has 0 impact on me. Girl across the street is 17 and pregnant, and even though I think she made a terrible choice in the father, I really am not effected. So how is it societal decay? Because children grow up and realize they don't have to be with someone? Or are you assuming she's gonna be on welfare and we somehow have to pay for it?

Considering their past, where we ripped them away from their families and forced them into slave labor, then continued to consider them less than human up until the 60's, we kind of set the bar really low for them. I mean, we pretty much tore apart their families for the past 500 years. I'm assuming we should expect them to automatically adjust to the white mans expectations now.

The birth rate was also unsustainable in that time period. I look at this more of an effect, rather than a cause. More people having way more kids forced the governments hand to try and help parents with way too many kids. The baby boom was caused by 'comfort' after WWII was over and the lingering effects of the depression faded away. That good old family unit just kept pumping out babies.

Our society started to decay when the "moral majority" stuff started. Interjecting your religious morals on others is what has started many a war. It's why separation of church, and state is so necessary. The moral majority, wasn't even close to a majority anyway. I'm a Catholic Christian, and the idea of interjecting religious morals on the people is abhorrent, and it lessens the faith.

There are many facts that would suggest otherwise.

Teen birth rate is at an all-time low. In 2014 it was 24.2 per 1,000 females aged 15-19. In the 1950s it reached 96.3 and 61.8 in 1992

The reason is not abortion because the number of abortions have also declined from a high of 29.3 per thousand women in 1980-81 to 14.6 in 2014.

Crime rates have been falling steadily since the early 1990s. Homicide rate is 4.5 per 100,000 which is the lowest since 1963. In 1980 the rate was over 10.2

Divorce rate is a 40 year low. In 1980 it peaked at 23 per 1,000 married women aged 15 and above and in 2015 that rate had fallen to 16.9 per 1,000.

Public opinion thinks all these things have increased.

In a new book by Steven Pinker called Enlightenment Now he says almost every area of human progress has advanced.
